River City Wrestling #113
Winnipeg Convention Cente, Winnipeg, MB

We are welcomed by the announcers Ron Strong & Mike Stone.

Due to last week's time limit draw between Ray Stevens and Dynamite Kid we were not able to declare a #1 contender. So those two will hook it up again tonight.

Opening Bout:

Handi-Cap Match - Non Title Match

Judy Martin  v  Tanya Tataryn & Shelly Salter

Martin had complained loud and hard about a lack of quality competition so she decided to face off against two women tonight instead of just one. However, as could have been predicted the animosity between Tataryn & Salter prevented them from operating as a coherent tag team. Martin was able to cherry pick her attacks and Salter did not even try to break up the pin attempt after Martin hit Tataryn with her piledriver finisher.

Judy Martin defeated Tanya Tataryn & Shelly Salter by pinfall when she pinned Tataryn after a piledriver at 6:38

Main Event

#1 Contenders Match - No time Limit

Ray Stevens, 247 lbs., San Fransisco, California
v
Dynamite Kid, 207 lbs., Manchester, England

Joined in progress.
The match is already over 20 minutes old, DK is already busted open. Stevens works DK over outside the ring with a bodyslam and then layign in some stomps. He rolls back inside the ring to break the count only to roll back out and throw Kid onto the announce table. He pounds away until his opponent rolls off the table, and then he over turns the table and its contents onto the Brit.
Ref George Gadasky talks Stevens back into the ring, and DK grabs a chair. As DK feigns re-entry into the ring Stevens tries to get to him, but is grabbed by Gadasky. Stevens pushes him out of the way knocking him over. Stevens reaches out of the ring for DK only to eat a helping of steel chair.
DK climbs to the top turnbuckle and comes off with a headbutt..but Stevens moves out of the way at the last second. Both men are down and so is the ref. Gadasky regains his senses first and begins a slow count, with both men using the ropes to pull themselves up just before the 10 count. DK charged at Stevens but the veteran backdropped the young Brit over the top rope where he landed hard on the floor.
Gadasky's 10 count was interrupted at 8 by Stevens who lept off the apron with an axhandle to the back of Dkid. Stevens rolled DK back into the ring.
Stevens went for a piledriver but the Brit backdropped his way out of it. Dkid then managed to get Stevens down with a drop toe hold into a leglock, and then into a crossface chickenwing. Eventually he turned this over into a version of the bow and arrow, but he still couldn't get Stevens to quit.
Frustrated DKid took the action back outside the ring. He paused to use a towel to clean the blood from his face. He then attacked Stevens, tossing him into the guardrail and then the ringsteps. He then nailed him with a snap suplex on the ground. DKid broke the count, and then climbed to the top turnbuckle. He was perched to come off the top all the way to the floor but thought better of it when Stevens saw him and rolled out of range. DKid climbed down and grabbed the discarded steel chair. Gadasky though began to try and get the chair from the hands of DK, and as they weren't looking Stevens charged hard into DK. But DK pulled the steel chair out of the grasp of Gadasky at the last second and Stevens ran right into the steel chair. All 3 men once again went down.
This time DK was the first to his feet. Noticing that Gadasky was out of it DK climbed onto the reset announce table, grabbed the ring bell and jumped off, smashing Stevens across the head. Stevens went down like he was shot, and when DK pulled him back up he was wearing the proverbial crimson mask. Both men were now bleeding heavily.
The match then skipped forward a few minutes.
We are around 33 minutes in now, back inside, both men bleeding, and Dynamite Kid in control.

DK nails a couple of armbreakers before shifting gears with a vicious looking face first piledriver. He can't get the 3 count though so he goes to 4 consecutive knee drops directly onto the bloodied forehead of Stevens. He then mounts him and lays in punches until Gadasky has to physically pull him off. DKid loses it momentarily and sets up Gadasky as if for a gutwrench suplex, but then thinks better of it, releases the hold, and walks right into a kick to the groin by Stevens. The Crippler attacks with a pailr of backbreakers before locking in the backbreaker. It takes DKid over a minute to reach the ropes for the break. Stevens goes for the hold again only to receive a thumb to the eye by DK who then rolls up Stevens and gets 1, 2, grabs a handfull of tighjts, but Gadasky is checking and calls for the break.

Both men go toe to toe in the middle of the rings with punches and kicks, but at a slow pace as both men are losing a lot of blood.

Matchmaker Marty Goldstein is down at ringside and observing.

DKid nails Stevens with a piledriver and gets a 2 count, and a minute later Stevens returns the favour but he too can not gain the pinfall.

Goldstein has been joined at ringside by Dr. Gord Peterson, and he calls over George Gadasky who then waves for the bell. Gadasky and Goldstein manage to seperate the two combatants and send them to neutral corners.

Peterson works on the cuts to stop the bleeding like a boxing cornerman and checks to see if they are coherent and can continue. The fans are booing and throwing things at the ring but settle down once an announcement is made that if the doctor clears both men to wrestle the match will resume. Officially the clock has been stopped at 41:28, not that it matters as this match is no time limit.

The match does in fact resume, and we skip forward to the 45 minute mark. Both men are staggering. DK nails Stevens with a German suplex, but is so slow to pin that he doesn't even get a 1 count. Stevens goes for a close attack, nailing a pair of forearm uppercuts driving DK back into the corner. He works him over in the corner, wrapping one leg through the ropes, and going after the thigh.

Gadasky calls for the break, and as he pulls DK's leg over the bottom rope the Brit just falls flat on his face. Gadasky does a quick check, but it doesnt matter as Dr. Peterson has already called for the bell.

Ray Stevens defeats Dynamite Kid by stoppage due to excessive blood loss at 48:24.

[approximately 18 minutes shown on TV]

Fantastic main event that the fans will not forget any time soon. They gave Stevens a nice loud ovation at the end of the match and look forward to him clashing with RCW Heavyweight champion Chris Lyon.

That's it for another edition of River City Wrestling.

See ya next week.
