River City Wrestling #118
Winnipeg Convention Cente, Winnipeg, MB

We are welcomed by the announcers Ron Strong & Mike Stone.

Opening Bout:
Jim Brunzell  v  Spudpicker Larkin

Brunzell easily beat this local youngster.

Jim Brunzell defeated Spudpicker Larkin by pinfall after a flying dropkick at 3:34

Bout #2:

Super Uke  v  Butch Reed (/w Mr. Ho)

Squash match that only lasted as long as it did because Reed enjoyed torturing the local talent.

Reed defeated Super Uke after a flying shoulderblock at 4:01

Bout #3
The Destroyer & Vic Gate
v
Dynamite Kid & Bounty Hunter

This match was set-up to deal with a couple of feuds, but it was obvious that DK and BH could care less about teamwork or the match result. They kept trying to change the match into an unruly brawl, and eventually they succeeded.

Double Countout at 9:50

Main Event

RCW Heavyweight Championship Match

Chris Lyon (champion) (/w Tawney England)
v
Mike Valiant (#1 contender)

This was Valiant's title shot that he won at the Battle Royal in September. These two men know each other well, and familiarity did indeed breed contempt. High impact moves were exchanged as well as brawling. Lyon has little desire however to risk his title. He went right after the previously injured knee of Valiant and used the ringsteps outside the ring to damage them. He was so vicious that referee Wyatt Hall called for the bell and awarded the match to Valiant.

Mike Valiant defeated Chris Lyon by disqualification for using the ringsteps on his opponent at 10:41

Post-Match:
Chris and Tawney continued to work on the injured knee of Valiant, using a chair. Destroyer and Vic Gate ran out to help him out but were delayed by the arrival of Bobby Duncum and Angelo Mosca, Destroyer and Gate were fighting off the Triumverate as the show came to a close.

That's it for another edition of River City Wrestling.

See ya next week.

River City Wrestling #119
Winnipeg Convention Cente, Winnipeg, MB

We are welcomed by the announcers Ron Strong & Mike Stone.

At the conclusion of last week's show, Mike Valiant had been hurt by the Triumverate until they were fought off by Gate & Destroyer. We are shown footage of Valiant in obvious pain being taken out in a stretcher and beign sent to the hospital in an ambulance. the announcers update us that Valiant has had some ligament damage to his knee, but its considered minimal and won't require surgery. The current prognosis though is that he is out of action until the end of 1983.

Opening Bout:
Brad Rheinghans & Jim Brunzell
v
Rob Flett & Neil Sutherland

Flett and Sutherland were a bit of a workout for their opponents, but it was obvious they were still overmatched.

Rheinghans & Brunzell defeated Flett & Sutherland by pinfall when Rheinghans pinned Flett after an Olympic suplex at 6:46

Bout #2:
Kelly Hobin & Stan Rodgers
v
Butch Reed & Mr. Ho

Mr. Ho didn't seem too pleased to be in this contest. He stayed in the corner and allowed the match to be in essence a handi-cap match. At the right time though Ho clocked Hobin from behind which set up Reed for the win.

Reed & Ho defeated Hobin & Rodgers by pinfall when Reed pinned Hobin after a flying clothesline at 8:49

Bout #3:
Ray Stevens  v  Cuban Assassin

Assassin has been a perpetual mid-carder and preliminary guy in RCW, so it surprised the crowd when he picked up the win here. However, it came when referee George Gadasky was knocked out and the Cuban retrieved his flag and smashed the flag staff across the head of Stevens.

Cuban Assassin defeated Ray Stevens by pinfall after hitting him with a foreign object (flag staff) at 5:15

Main Event
Vic Gate  v  Dynamite Kid

Tough match-up for the youngster Gate. Again he wanted to keep it scientific but Dkid hit him not only with science and technical ability but also with cheap shots and dirty tactics. In the end Dkid was just too much for Gate, nailing him with a German suplex outside the ring, and a flying headbutt inside.

Dynamite Kid defeated Vic Gate by pinfall after a flying headbutt at 7:12

Post-Match:
Destroyer came out to help Gate to the back. As they were walking back up to the ramp, for some reason Dynamite Kid returned and clocked Destroyer with a steel chair before going after Gate who was still hurting from the match. Dkid hit each of them with multiple chair shots before RCW officials seperated him from the fallen.

That's it for another edition of River City Wrestling.

See ya next week.

River City Wrestling #120
Winnipeg Convention Cente, Winnipeg, MB

We are welcomed by the announcers Ron Strong & Mike Stone.

In-ring interview:
Ron Strong brings out a newcomer to RCW, Bad News Allen!! This former Olympic competitor in Judo has been most recently tearing up the Stampede territory based in Calgary. Allen says he has come eastward seeking challenge and opportunity. He claims he was unable to get a fair shot in Stampede because the owner, Stu Hart and his sons are a bunch of cheats. This of course brought out RCW's resident Hart brother Keith who took exception to the remark. Allen challenged him to a match on the spot and Hart accepted.

Opening Bout:
Keith Hart  v  Bad News Allen

Well worked match with a good pace. While it had its moments of heat, it stayed scientific for the most part. Allen though took advantage of the rules when given the opportunity and sent Hart head first into the ringpost while the two were fighting outside the ring. Shortly after that he finished Hart off inside the ring.

Bad News Allen defeated Keith Hart by pinfall after an enzuigiri at 6:49

Bout #2:
RCW Television Title Match

The Bounty Hunter (champion)  v  Stan Rodgers

There seems to be no rhyme or reason behind the challengers for the TV title. With no clearcut #1 challenger the BH came out to the ring and issued a challenge to any one in the lockeroom. The challenge was accepted by former tag team champion as a Roughneck Stan Rodgers. These two big Cowboys went at it in a brawl, but in the end even Rodgers could not stand up against the agression and power of the 275 pound champ from El Paso Texas.

The Bounty Hunter defeated Stan Rodgers by pinfall after a Lariat at 8:02
[The Bounty Hunter retains the RCW Television Title]

Promo; the sadistic nature of the Dynamite Kid is highlighted in a music video to "King of Pain" by the Police, currently sitting at #2 in the Canadian music charts.

Main Event
RCW Tag Team Title Match

Bobby Duncum & Angelo Mosca (/w Corrie England)
v
Butch Reed & Mr. Ho

A rare villian versus villian match for RCW. Mr. Ho must have pulled some strings to get such a quick title match. But while Reed may have been able to pretty much single handedly beat Hobin & Rodgers last week he can't handle these 2 big veterans on his own. Mr. Ho is obviously the weak link in the match, spends a few minutes playing Ricky Morton, and the crowd surprisingly gets behind the champions. However, when Reed gets tagged in the fans cheer him. Mr. Ho tries for a repeat of last week by attacking Duncum from behind, but the big Texan apparently has it scouted and ducks under. Mr. Ho runs right into a clothesline from his own man Butch Reed. Mosca then nails Reed from behind, and Duncum finishes him off.

Duncum & Mosca defeated Reed & Ho by pinfall when Duncum pins Reed after a flying bulldog at 11:01
[Duncum & Mosca retain the RCW Tag Team Titles]

Post-Match:
Reed is furious with his manager and looks ready to clock him. He even grabs him, but Mr. Ho says something to settle him down and the two eventually leave together to a chorus of jeers.

That's it for another edition of River City Wrestling.

Next week will be our pre-Halloween special, as we will be pre-empted the following week for special Halloween programming.

See ya next week.

River City Wrestling #121
Winnipeg Convention Cente, Winnipeg, MB

We are welcomed by the announcers Ron Strong & Mike Stone.

Opening Bout:
Midget Action

Stanislav Kozlowich  v  Little Tokoyo

Tokoyo is a cagey veteran villian, while Kozlowich is a local product who while very strong and barrel chested, is a green rookie.

Little Tokoyo pinned Kozlowich at 5:10

Bout #2:
Ladies Action:

Iron Maiden   v  Rhonda Singh

Maiden was no match for the large competitor on a swing eastward from her usual Stampede wrestling stomping grounds.

Rhonda Singh defeated Iron Maiden by pinfall at 8:35

Bout #3:

Chain Match
The Destroyer  v  Dynamite Kid

This was the blow-off from an incident a couple weeks ago when DKid defeated Vic Gate who was being seconded by Destroyer. After the match DKid used a chair to lay out both Destroyer and Gate. The attack was vicious and unprovoked. DKid is growing restless for a title shot and wants to beat the former champ.
Destroyer though matches Dynamite's vicious streak with savage and crisply executed moves, and uses the chain with precision. By the end of the match even though DKid did get in his shots, he was a beaten man, bleeding badly.

Destroyer defeated Dynamite Kid in a chain match by touching all 4 corners at 12:17

Main Event:
RCW Heavyweight Title Match
"Mystery Opponent"

Chris Lyon (champion) (/w Tawney England)
v
Kendo Nagasaki (mystery opponent)

The matchmaker, Marty Goldstein, had grown weary of Lyon cheating his way out of title defenses. So he set up this Halloween treat for the fans with a mystery opponent. The fans went nuts when Nagasaki came down.
Lyon did his best to avoid contact with the oriental star but even the outside interference from England couldn't save him. He was obviously unerved not knowing who to prepare to meet. By the 10 minute mark it seemed that only a miracle could save him from losing the title.
That's when Mr. Ho suddenly appeared at ringside with a briefcase. When Nagasaki got within range, Ho opened the briefacase revealing cash. He then exchanged words with Nagaski and motioned him to follow to the back - which the challenger did, and the champion was quite willing to let happen.
England embraced her champ in the ring following the 10 count and the fans reigned down a chorus of jeers.

Chris Lyon defeated Kendo Nagasaki by countout at 11:04
[Chris Lyon retains the RCW Heavyweight Title]

That's it for another edition of RCW wrestling. We are pre-empted next week for local Halloween coverage but will be back in two weeks time with a special guest appearance of Randall "Tex" Cobb, Heavyweight boxer turned actor.

See ya next week.
