Opening Bout:
Extra special appearance
NWA Canadian Tag Team Champions - non-title match
Sonny Meyers & Mike Dupree defeated Robbie Royce & Ron Ritchie by pinfall at 11:20

Bout #2
David Schultz defeated Biff Wellington by pinfall after a corkscrew neckbreaker at 5:34
-A big, fit guy, Wellington had his moments but really just a glorified squash match

Post-Match:
Dr. D David Schultz gives an interview where he says he is irrate that he did not receive an automatic title rematch against Brunzell. Interviewer Ron Strong pointed out that the match was a grudge match after a long feud and was to be their last match-up. Schultz says that's just the RCW's way of cheating him out of his belt and leaving him no recourse for vindication. He promises to start at the bottom with guys like Wellington and make his way through the whole roster if he has to, but he will once again reach the top.

Bout #3:
Non-title match
Tawney England defeated Katie MacGregor at 4:25
-squash match

Interview:
Tawney England goes through a litany of challenges she has faced for the Canadian belt the last couple weeks coast to coast. When asked about her sister Corrie she says she has no idea about her training regiment but when her sister is ready for another beating she is welcome to a title shot.

Bout #4
George Wells & Bad News Allen defeated Black & Red Demon by pinfall when Wells pinned Red Demon after a football tackle at 2:03
-squash match

Interview:
Wells thanks his new partner for a great match and the RCW fans for greeting him so warmly. Allen says he has some words of wisdom for Wells. RCW is full of snakes and backstabbers who will do anything to slow him down. Allen comes off as a bit bitter and confrontational.

[end of first hour]

Bout #5
Jerry Blackwell defeated Larry Hennig by countout at 7:27
-Blackwell hit Hennig in the head with a steel chair outside the ring while referee Wyatt Hall was knocked out.

Bout #6
RCW Tag Team Title Match
Masked Superstar & The Destroyer defeated Chris Lyon & Bobby Duncum by disqualification when Lyon pushed referee Kenny Jay away from a pin at 13:29
[Lyon & Duncum retain the RCW Tag Team Titles]
-Lyon made a last ditch move to get DQ'd and save the titles from certain loss when they had been clearly bested

Main Event
RCW Heavyweight Title Match
Jim Brunzell defeated Billy Robinson by pinfall after a flying dropkick at 21:44
-approximately 15 minutes shown on television
[Jim Brunzell retains the RCW Heavyweight Title]
-Robinson had won the title shot with his surprising battle royal win last week.

Post-Match:
As Brunzell was celebrating with the fans at ringside he was attacked by TV champion Ben Bassarab, who was then joined by his manager Billy Robinson having recovered from his loss. The two men laid a beating on the champ until Larry Hennig came to his rescue.

That's it for another edition of River City Wrestling.

See ya next week!!

River City Wrestling #190
Winnipeg, Manitoba

Opening Bout:
Steve Olsonoski defeated Brian Jewel by pinfall after a flying dropkick at 4:09
-squash match

Interview:
Billy Robinson and Ben Bassarab are being interviewed by Mike Stone and its turning into a mutual admiration society meeting. Robinson is complaining about how Brunzell cheated his way to victory last week to retain his belt, and Bassarab complains that he has defeated all worthy pretenders to his Television crown.
The commish Marty Goldstein comes to the ring. He says the actions of Robinson and Bassarab last week in attacking Brunzell after the match were horrible. As punishment for that this week Robinson will have to find a partner and take on the pair of Brunzell and Larry Hennig! Robinson picks Bassarab to be his partner but Goldstein says that won't be practical as Bassarab will be wrestling in the main event defending his title as punishment for his actions last week. Shockingly his opponent will be Jerry Blackwell!!
Bassarab and Robinson are livid but they have no choice in the matter.

Bout #2
Tod Hestrerey defeated King Tonga by pinfall after an armbar roll-up at 0:50
-major upset and a quick one at that. These two former partners were still feeling each other out when Tonga was called over by his own manager Miss Hartel. However the rookie Hestrerey decided not to wait and jumped onto the Tongan wrapping his legs around his opponent's arm and rolling him up for the win. Afte rthe match Tod quickly vacated the premises which was a wise choice given that the Tongan began to throw furniture around the ring.

Bout #3
The Destroyer defeated Bobby Duncum by countout after giving him a piledriver outside the ring at 10:12
-vicious match. If Destroyer and Masked Superstar can both pull off single wins against the tag champions this week, then on the next show they will receive another title shot with the stipulation it be under Texas Tornado rules.

Bout #4
The Masked Superstar defeated Chris Lyon by countout when Lyon decided to vacate the premises at 7:47
-Lyon had some early success but was on the verge of losing this encounter, so he decided that discretion was the better part of valour.

Post-Match:
Bobby Duncum and Chris Lyon were found arguing backstage. Duncum was pissed off at Lyon for just leaving and now putting them in a Texas Tornado match against the two masked men. Lyon throws it right back into the face of Duncum pointing out both men lost by the same method. Duncum disputes this logic saying at least he went down swinging, to which Lyon retorts he just saw him down on the floor, definetly not swinging. They start to push and look like they might come to blows but Corrie England is there quickly to break things up. Interestingly enough she is wearing a mask?

[end of first hour]

Bout #5
George Wells & Bad News Allen defeated Man Mountain Mike & Monte Black by pinfall when Wells defeated Black after a football tackle at 4:19
-squash match

Post-Match:
Again George Wells is very cordial to the fans and announcer Ron Strong. However, Bad News Allen who seemed disinterested during the match was even less so in Wells comments. However, he turned around and made the same comments about being held down and how the guys they beat tonight were a joke. He says that if RCW doesn't get them some real competition soon then he will go out and instigate some himself.

Bout #6
Robinson's mystery partner
Billy Robinson & David Schultz defeated Jim Brunzell & Larry Hennig by pinfall when Robinson pinned Brunzell after a double underhook suplex at 15:53
-excellent match which went back and forth. Robinson and Schultz worked extremely well together and were relentless in their first ever outing as a tag team. Despite not being the legal man Schultz hotshotted Brunzell off the top rope while he was standing on the ring apron which set up his partner for the win.

Main Event
RCW Televsion Title
Jerry Blackwell defeated Ben Bassarab by pinfall after a splash  from the 2nd turnbuckle at 4:06
[Jerry Blackwell won the RCW Television Title]
-a quick match indeed showing the absoloute dominance of Blackwell's size over a guy in Bassarab who had been a much better champion then anyone thought he would be able to be. The crowd was actually behind Bassarab on this night and jeered as Blackwell took the belt over his shoulder and left the ringside area in quick fashion, refusing an interview.

That's it for another edition of River City Wrestling.

Next week we are pre-empted for special programming, and will therefore return in
two weeks.

See ya then!

Opening Bout:
Canadian Women's Title Match
Tawney England defeated Orka by pinfall after a top rope elbowdrop at 6:26
[Tawney England retains the Canadian Women's Title]
-Orka was some Russian behemoth with very little experience or wrestling ability. However her size presented a challenge for the Canadian Women's champ and she was unable to use her hairplane spin finisher.

Interview:
Tawney England remained in the ring for a post match interview by Ron Strong. However, she was soon interrupted by her sister Corrie England who came to the ring wearing a boxer's robe with the hood up and to the theme from Rocky "I Can Fly Now".
She says she has completed her one month training and is in the best shape of her life physically, mentally, and in wrestling ability. She challenges her sister for a title bout next week and Tawney agrees, seemingly a bit stunned at her sister's strong presence.

Bout #2
Steve Olsonoski & Rick Renslow defeated Armand Rougeau & Robbie Royce when Olsonoski pinned Royce after a top rope dropkick at 8:40
-a bit of an upset as Renslow is not a very accomplished wrestler. A strong outing for the unpopular Steve O.

Bout #3
RCW Television Title Match
Return Bout
Jerry Blackwell defeated Ben Bassarab by pinfall after a splash at 3:30
[Blackwell retains the RCW Television Title]
-Even the interference of Bassarab's manager Billy Robinson could not help stop the behemoth champion. Blackwell used an amazing dropkick, headbutts, and a bearhug to wear down the former champion before finishing him off.

Interview:
Jerry "Crusher" Blackwell says that the TV title is not enough. It is only a stepping stone to the world title. He puts Jim Brunzell and Billy Robinson on notice that he is not going to wait any longer for his shot at the title belt.

Bout #4
Rubber Match (each man has won 1 match against each other)
King Tonga defeated Tod Hestrerery by disqualification after hitting Tonga in the head with a steel chair at 11:38
-Hestrerery did the amazing again hanging tight with the monster for almost 12 minutes. Tonga's valet Miss Hartel passed the chair to Tonga to use then distracted the ref. Tod though kicked it away and then nailed Tonga with it, but of course was seen by referee George Gadasky and Dq'd

Post-Match:
Ron Strong tried to get an interview with Tod Hestrerery but he refused, waving him off.

[end of first hour]

Pre-Match:
Dr. D David Schultz came to the ring. Apparently he and a partner were scheduled to wreslte the tandem of George Wells and Bad News Allen tonight. However, Schultz says RCW matchmaker Marty Goldstein obviously is too stupid to learn from his mistakes. Schultz says he doesn't need a partner and convinced his partner for tonight it would be better for his health if he didn't come out tonight. Schultz says he can handle both these "boys" by himself tonight.

Bout #6
Handi-Cap Match
George Wells & Bad News Allen battled David Schultz to a double countout when Allen and Schultz were counted out at 4:55
-Allen was totally out of control thoughout the match and strained his relations with Wells even more.

Bout #7
RCW Tag Team Title Match
Texas Tornado Style (all 4 men are legal)
Masked Superstar & The Super Destroyer defeated Chris Lyon & Bobby Duncum by pinfall when Destroyer pinned Lyon after a double stuff piledriver at 10:56
[Masked Superstar & The Super Destroyer won the RCW Tag Team Titles]
-a total brawl in and around the ring. At one point it appeared that the champions would retain as they had Superstar knocked out, outside the ring. However it is not a falls count anywhere situation and referee Kenny Jay would not count the pinfall attempt outside the ring. By the time they dragged Superstar back inside the Super Destroyer was able to recover and break up the pin. About a minute later the masked duo sent Duncum over the top rope with a double clothesline and then stuffed Lyon for the win.

Interview:
Matchmaker Marty Goldstein comes to the ring with some papers in his hands. He calls out Miss Hartel and King Tonga to the ring. He tells them that he has had a talk with Tod Hestrerery and has decided another match is in order to decide this feud. Hartel protests asking Goldstein how he could have talked to her former protege who is a mute. Goldstein says there is more then one way to communicate as Tonga will find out next week. Tonga will go one on one once more with Tod Hestrerey in a 2 out of 3 falls match. And just to make sure things remain fair and square Hartel will be handcuffed to the ringpost during the bout. But that's not all. Tod has offered to put up some stakes. If Tod loses then he will be willing to forfeit his contract to Hartel for her to assign him or use him as she wishes. However, if Tod wins then he will get Hartel's managerial services on an exclusive basis for 30 days. At first Hartel does not want to accept but when Tonga begins to lose his temper with her and starts to smash his head into the turnbuckle she accepts.

Main Event
RCW Heavyweight Title Match
Jim Brunzell defeated Billy Robinson by pinfall after a flying dropkick at 12:00
[Brunzell retains the RCW Heavyweight Title]
-Even matchup. Brunzell had Robinson ready to go down to a loss but Ben Bassarab managed to come out and trip up the champ without ref Gadasky seeing. This brought out Jerry Blackwell of all people who began to pummel Bassarab to make sure it didn't happen again. Back inside the ring this distracted Robinson long enough for him to lose his short comeback to the champ.

Post-Match:
As Brunzell celebrated his victory and was presented with the belt Jerry Blackwell entered the ring from the other side and attempted to ambush the champion. However Brunzell seemed ready for this (it seems to have happened to him a lot in the last few months) and he scrambled out of the ring, and out of harms way.

That's it for another edition of River City Wrestling.

See ya next week!!
