River City Wrestling #92
Winnipeg Convention Cente, Winnipeg, MB

Announcers: Ron Strong & Mike Stone

Strong] Tonight’s main event will feature Mike Valiant putting his #1 contendership for the Heavyweight title on the line against Greg “the Hammer” Valentine in an effort to shut him up.

Stone] Well that’s what some people are choosing to believe, but others think that RCW champion Chris Lyon is trading on his friendship with Valiant to get him to take on Valentine so that Lyon can continue to duck him.

Strong] Either way it’s a tough call for fans who are put in the awkward position of watching two men fight it out, and probably wishing that both men go down to defeat. It’s a case of the devil you know against the devil you don’t.

Stone] And don’t forget we also have the Milkman, the Snake, Jake Milliman in action tonight! *Yawns*

In-ring interview; Mike Stone is in the ring to interview Mike Valiant

Stone] Welcome Mr. Valiant. You know I used to have a lot of respect for you. Unlike some people, including a friend of yours Chris Lyon, you sir had never pandered to the fans since coming to RCW. You have done it your way all the time, keeping the goal of being the champion at the forefront of your mind, and the way you conduct yourself. So, it comes as a bit of a surprise that after last week’s victory over Junkyard Dog, making you the #1 contender, and an automatic shot at RCW champion Chris Lyon, you would give that all up to take on Greg Valentine instead. Why? Are you running interference for your friend the champ so he can continue to hide from the Hammer?

Valiant] Well I’m glad I had your respect Stone, ‘cause you never had mine, losing all your matches you bum. I am the #1 contender, and when I beat Valentine tonight I will still be the #1 contender, and then I will take my shot next week against Lyon. To tell the absolute truth of the matter, I haven’t even spoken to Lyon in a couple of weeks, and have never spoken to him about Valentine. The reason I want to take on Valentine now, and to take him out, is simple. After the way he took me down off the announce table a couple weeks back and laid a licking on me, well I haven’t been able to concentrate on anything but revenge for the past couple of weeks. I’m not even sure how I managed to beat JYD, it must be that he is a over rated bum like you Stone. Eventually I will have to face Valentine anyway, so I might as well take him out today, get my revenge, and then worry about the title next week. And yes Stone, its all about the gold, and I will have the gold by the end of next week. Take it to the bank.

Stone] Are you not afraid of the figure-four..or as some are putting it after Valentine’s recent campaign of terror..the misfigure-four. This may be the last time we see you walking upright!

Valiant] No man here in RCW scares me. It’s just a move. It takes a long time to set-up and you have the advantage of leverage being on your back. I have practiced for that move tonight, and I don’t plan to being in that disadvantaged position long enough to get in that move.

Stone] Well I guess we’ll see about that…many a better established wrestler then you has fallen to that move. That’s tonight’s main event so fans stay tuned.

Special Challenge by the Canadian Kodiaks (Bear & Claw)

The big men enter the ring, followed by referee George Gadasky, and while Bear warms up and stretches out his arms and chest, his partner Claw reiterates their challenge. No one in RCW can break out of the Bear’s bearhug, and that includes the Bonecrusher who also uses the move as a finisher.

The challenge does not go unmet as Bonecrusher makes his way down to the ring. But before he can reach the ring we see a young, enthusiastic, if not undersized J.D. Miller run past Bonecrusher and into the ring. He takes the mic and says he wants to be the first challenger to make a name for himself. Bonecrusher has a smile on his face and waits outside the ring.

Bear shrugs as if to say “why not”, and applies the bearhug to Miller in the middle of the ring. Miller tries his best for a few seconds to break out of it by putting his hands between his body and Bear’s arms to no avail. After that he flails away with fists to the back of the head of Bear, but his fists soon lose all veracity. He is now limp and Bear shakes him around the ring before dumping him to the canvas as Bonecrusher steps into the ring to stop him.

Claw tries to step in the middle and Bonecrusher rocks him back to the corner with a forearm smash, and then tells him to stay put. He then allows Bear to apply the bearhug. He tries the same tactics as Miller, first trying to break the hands apart or get an arm between Bear’s arms and his own ribs. When this fails he tries fists which also don’t seem to work, although the effects are much more solid then they were with Bear. It appears as if Bonecrusher is pretty much gone limp. The ‘crusher though suddenly perks up and attempts to headbutt Bear. But he is only 5’8 while Bear goes about 6’4 so his head can only nail Bear in the chest. However, it rocks the Canadian Kodiak, so he follows it up with a second and a third headbutt to the chest. This backs Bear to just in front of the ropes. Referee Gadasky indicates that if Bear is backed into the ropes a break will be called for and Bonecrusher will have won the challenge. But before he can try another headbutt Claw comes from behind and drills a fist into the kidney area of Bonecrusher. Both Kodiaks now go to work on Bonecrusher with kicks and punches as he lay on the mat.

This continues for a minute until the RCW tag team champions, Stan Rodgers and Russel Riggs (the Roughnecks) hit the ring and go right after the Kodiaks. The four men battle inside and outside the ring with the Kodiaks finally being the first team to bail out.

They are calling for a stretcher and the medic on hand seems very concerned about Bonecrusher’s ribs and lungs.
