Ron Strong and Mike Stone welcome us to another edition of River City Wrestling. Today we are coming from Regina, Saskatchewan
which is the beginning of a new era for RCW – road trips. RCW will be expanding into western Canada as it forges closer
ties to Stampede wrestling and the World Wrestling Federation.
Opening Bout:
Buddy Lane defeated Spudpicker
Larkin by submission with the Indian Death Lock at 5:00
-squash match, marked the return of Buddy Lane to active duty
after over a year on the injury list. Looked like he had a lot of ring rust, and not as fast or agile as he used to be.

Anton Rojack defeated Super Uke by pinfall after a football tackle at 4:07
-another squash match. Rojack’s
dominant valet Valkrye even seemed happy with his performance, allowing him to be led on his leash walking out of the arena,
instead of having to crawl.

movies, “Breakin’” starring Lucinda Dickey & Adolfo Quinones.

A struggling young jazz dancer (Lucinda Dickey)
meets up with two break-dancers. Together they become the sensation of the street crowds.

Contenders Tag Team Match
Ben Bassarab & Phil Lafleur v Keith & Bret Hart
Two fan favorite teams
that the locals are familiar with from their Stampede days hooked up. To borrow a phrase from Ed Whalen it was a “ring-ding-dong-dandy”.
The Hart Brothers held the early advantage but that turned around and Bret had to play Ricky Morton. Bassarab was all over
Bret with a running powerslam, gutwrench suplex, a reverse neckbreaker, and a piledriver. However, when he tried to hit his
finishing flying cross body block Bret moved out of the way and made the tag to his brother. It was Keith’s turn now
to dominate an opponent nailing Bassarab with a German suplex, bulldog, running lariat, flying fistdrop, a dragon suplex,
and then into his finisher the half boston crab. However, Bassarab got over enough to tag in Lafleur. Keith’s head was
turned though so he didn’t know about the tag as he was still holding onto the half-boston. Taking advantage of that
Lafleur climbed to the top turnbuckle and came off with a kick right to the back of the head of Keith Hart that leveled him.
Bret seeing this as dirty tactics came in and rocked Lafleur with a flying forearm smash. This brought Bassarab to his feet
and he and Lafleur double teamed Bret, nailing him with a double backbody drop right over the top rope! Lafleur then picked
up Keith and nailed him with a sitdown powerbomb to win the match. The fans gave the victors a mix of cheers and jeers.
Phil
Lafleur & Ben Bassarab defeated the Hart Brothers by pinfall when Lafleur pinned Keith Hart after a sitdown powerbomb
at 15:18

Post-Match:
The four men met outside the ring and there
was some pushing and shoving. Cooler heads prevailed however and the two tag teams ended up shaking hands before leaving the
ring area.
Main Event
Chris Lyon & Harley Race (/w Tawney England) v Tex Cobb & Brad Rheinghans
This
match was put together by Marty Goldstein. RCW champion Lyon seemed pleased as punch to have such a legend as a tag partner,
even volunteering to start the match off. Lyon and Race were just too good of wrestlers for their opponents to handle. They
used quick tags and constant double teaming and misdirection to control most of the match. Race worked over Rheinghans with
headbutts, vertical suplex, fisherman suplex, and stomps in the corner. He pulled Rheinghans over to the corner to make the
tag to Lyon, but instead just leveled Lyon with a punch to the head. Lyon dropped off the ring apron like a rock in deep water.
Race dropped a headbutt onto the prone Lyon off the ring apron. He then slapped on the figure-four while the crowd cheered.
Inside the ring, not sure what to do, referee Kenny Jay applied a hasty 10 count.

defeated Chris Lyon & Harley Race by countout at 8:24
Post-Match:
Finally Tawney England managed
to get Race to release the figure-four after several kicks to the head. He chased England away just as Lyon’s henchmen,
Bobby Duncum and Angelo Mosca arrived on the scene. Race managed to avoid them, leaving up the ramp as they saw to the safety
of Lyon.

Vic Gate defeated Joe Apollo by pinfall when
Apollo’s shoulders were pinned while in the figure-four leglock at 5:27

Cobb & Butch Reed v Bad News Allen & Cuban Assassin
Fairly even match, with the TV champ Reed as the most dominant
of the four. However, with the referee distracted Assassin took the chance to nail Reed over the head with his flag pole and
pick up the win.
Allen & Assassin defeated Cobb & Reed by pinfall when C.Assassin pinned Reed after hitting
him over the head with the flag pole at 7:50

Tag Team Title Match
Angelo Mosca & Bobby Duncum (champions) (/w Corrie England)
v
Ben Bassarab & Phil Lafleur
Bassarab had a short stint in trouble early, but then the youngsters took over
the match. They worked over the arm of Duncum until he tagged in Mosca. A short 4 man brawl ensued that thanks to the interference
of England gave the advantage back to the champs. Mosca wore down Lafleur with submission type moves before turning it over
to Duncum for a lariat, and legdrop. Duncum was going to hit him with the bulldog finisher but Lafleur pushed him off, right
into the corner where he collided with Bassarab. Lafleur crawled over, but Bassarab was not there to make the tag. Duncum
tagged in Mosca who pulled Lafleur into the middle of the ring by the hair. Mosca nailed Lafleur with an atomic drop, then
hit him with a heart punch which dropped him. King Kong then dropped the elbow and it was all over.

Duncum defeated Bassarab & Lafleur by pinfall when Mosca pinned Lafleur after an elbowdrop at 9:36

In-ring interview:
The Triumvirate are in the ring (Chris Lyon, Mosca,
Duncum, along with the England Sisters). Lyon complains about being set up by Goldstein and Race last week. The fans cheer
this which makes Lyon go even more ballistic. Goldstein comes out to the aisleway and in a mocking manner insists that he
had no knowledge of Race’s intentions. Lyon calls him a liar and cheat, and Race a washed up has-been. Goldstein baits
Lyon by asking him what he’s going to do about it. The champ takes the bait and challenges Race to a match next week.
Goldstein says “done” and announces that it will be for the RCW title.

Main Event
Davey Boy Smith
v Dynamite Kid
The bell had barely rung and these two were exchanging punches in the middle of the ring. DK nailed
DBS with a headbutt, and then DBS fired right back with one of his own. He clotheslined DK to the ground, then came off the
ropes with a running clothesline. DBS was pumped as he lifted DK high in the air and brought him back to earth after a hanging
vertical suplex. He covered and got a 2 count. He whipped DK off the ropes but telegraphed a back body drop and ate a forearm
instead. DK quickly nailed DBS with a snap suplex, but only got a 1 count. DK wore down DBS with a reverse chin lock. More
punishment by DK included a side suplex followed by a piledriver. He climbed to the top rope and came off with a headbutt,
but DBS rolled out of the way. Smith punched DK and then hit him with a dropkick which sent him out of the ring. DBS of course
followed DK outside the ring where the match spent the next couple minutes off and on. DK nailed DBS with a snap suplex on
the mats outside the ring and then rolled him back inside. He hit a gutwrench suplex for a 2 count. He then tried to wear
down DBS with the sleeperhold but DBS managed to survive two stints in the hold by reaching the ropes.
Six minutes into
the match and due to time constraints we fast forward.
DBS has DK in trouble. He nails him with an atomic drop, and DK
flees the ring for safety. DBS follows him outside and the two get real nasty using the guardrail and ringsteps as weapons.
Both men are now busted open and finally the action returns to inside the ring. DBS nails DK with a sunset flip, then a running
clothesline. He fireman carry’s him to the top turnbuckle and follows him up for a superplex. But DK fights him off
and pulls him off, twisting on the way down to land on top of DBS. He covers and gets a 2 count. DK hits him with a lariat
and then a rolling reverse cradle but only gets a 2 count. A snap suplex and a piledriver also don’t yield a 3 count
despite DBS now bleeding quite heavily. DK places DBS on the top turnbuckle setting him up for his own superplex. But DBS
fights him off, and both men shock the crowd as they fall hard to the floor outside the ring, off of the top turnbuckle. Neither
man is moving as referee George Gadasky counts to 10.
Davey Boy Smith and Dynamite Kid fight to a double countout
at 16:10
[approximately 10 minutes televised]
Post-Match:
Neither man is moving as medical help is
being called for from the backstage area.

Post-Match:
What
should have been a nice warm-up match for Buddy Lane on his comeback attempt, ended abruptly when the Magnificent Kevin
Kelly decided to make his initial live appearance in RCW. He simply entered the ring and laid out both men with powerbombs.
He was joined in the ring by his valet Desiree Petersen. Desiree told all the fans to hail the new chief. Kelly posed
and flexed while Desiree applauded.

Butch Reed (champion) v
Cuban Assassin
Assassin attacked Reed before the bell and held the advantage for a couple of minutes. But as soon as the
champion gained back the advantage the result was never in doubt. Reed is proving himself to be a very formable champion indeed.

Main Event
RCW Heavyweight Title Match
Chris Lyon (champion) (/w Tawney England)
v Harley Race
Lyon seemed way over his head in the early minutes of this match. Everything he tried was countered or
reversed by Race. The former NWA champion wore down Lyon with hammerlocks, front face lock, and a sleeperhold. Not satisfied
with just beating Lyon he took the match outside the ring where he smashed Lyon’s head on the announce table and again
on the guardrail. Back inside he tried to finish off Lyon with his figure-four but it was close enough that England was able
to reach in and pull Lyon to the ropes. Lyon left the ring, and when Race followed he slipped back into the ring. He did this
three times before finally catching Race coming into the ring with a kick to the head. He got Race tangled up in the ropes
and punished him with elbow and knee drops. Dragging Race to the middle of the ring he took him down with a double leg and
then dropped a knee into the “lower” abdomen. Lyon was warned by official George Gadasky but not disqualified.
Lyon continued to work the inner thigh area of Race with elbows and knees before locking him in a Gory special. Race though
managed to fight back with a thumb to the eye. He backed Lyon into the corner with some hard forearms before beiling him to
the middle of the ring and nailing him in the back with a running knee. Race continued to punish the champ for a couple of
minutes before Lyon tried to escape to the floor once again. Race however followed him. When the champ tried to hide behind
his valet Race tossed her to the side. Gadasky left the ring to try and break it up as Race and Lyon were now exchanging punches
against the guardrail. While this occurred Tawney England got herself off the mat and rolled into the ring. She removed a
top turnbuckle cover. Thanks to the work of Gadasky order was restored and Race rolled Lyon back into the ring; ready for
the kill shot. But as he climbed back into the ring Race was nailed from behind with a lowblow by England. Lyon was on his
feet first and hit Race with a flying dropkick which laid him out across the second rope. The champ then distracted Gadasky
long enough for England to grab a chair and ~waffle~ Race across the head. Lyon attempted to pin Race but only got a 2 count!
He then nailed Race with a slingshot suplex to get another 2 count. Race fought back with fists. He tried to whip Lyon into
the corner that had the exposed turnbuckle but the RCW champ reversed it and sent Race to the buckle instead. His head hit
hard and Lyon rolled him up for the 3 count.
Chris Lyon defeated Harley Race by pinfall after smashing him into
an exposed turnbuckle at 15:02
[Chris Lyon retained the RCW Heavyweight Title]
Post-Match:
Lyon and
England fled for their lives. Race pointed out the exposed turnbuckle to Gadasky but since the ref hadn’t seen who had
ripped the cover off he couldn’t do anything about it. Race just threw up his hands in disgust and left the ring.

Edmonton, Alberta
Announcers Ron Strong
and Mike Stone welcome us to another edition of River City Wrestling. Today we are back in Stampede territory, in the capital
of Alberta, Edmonton.
Opening Bout:
Buddy Lane v Magnificent Kevin Kelly (/w Desiree Petersen)
This
match was all Kevin Kelly as he showed his power as well as some wrestling expertise. His only faults seemed to be a very
slow working pace which allowed Lane some second chances. Kelly nailed Lane with the powerbomb and would have got the 3 count
but he elected to lift him up instead. He then gave him a second powerbomb before this time finishing the pin.
Kevin Kelly defeated Buddy Lane by pinfall after the powerbomb at 4:47
Post-Match:
Kelly continued
to hammer on Lane while Petersen distracted the referee Wyatt Hall. Kelly then picked up Lane and delivered a third powerbomb.
Finally Television champion Butch Reed came from the back to make the save, sending Kelly and Petersen running.

Judy Martin defeated Rhonda Singh by pinfall after a piledriver
at 7:56
[Judy Martin retains the Canadian Women’s Title]
-Singh was the local girl getting the title shot but
because she is usually a villain there was mixed responses from the crowd for both ladies.

Rob Flett & Neil Sutherland v Anton Rojack & Valkrye
It shows how depleted the tag
team scene now is as these two teams competed for the #1 spot. Rojack held his own, and despite being a woman, Valkrye was
the dominant factor in this match.
Rojack & Valkrye defeated Flett & Sutherland
by pinfall when Valkrye pinned Flett after a clothesline from the top rope at 6:34
Main Event
Six Man Tag
Match
Davey Boy Smith, Keith Hart, & Bret Hart
v
Dynamite Kid, Bad News Allen, & Cuban Assassin
It
was like a Stampede homecoming for 5 of these 6 wrestlers (the exception being the Cuban Assassin). The match was plagued
with brawls and double team situations. Keith Hart spent a couple minutes playing Ricky Morton and Bret kept getting sucked
into trying to come into the ring. Davey Boy Smith had the Cuban Assassin beat after a superplex but there was no ref to count
as he had been knocked out. The fireworks really exploded when DBS and DK finally met one-on-one. The ring could not contain
these two men. DK was about to use a steel chair on DBS outside the ring with the ref distracted but Ben Bassarab came
out from the back and wrestled the chair away from DK. DBS took advantage and finished off DK inside the ring with the superplex.
Smith
& The Hart Brothers defeated Dynamite, Allen, & the Cuban by pinfall when Smith pinned Dynamite after a superplex
at 9:58
