Opening Bout:
Wild Bill Irwin defeated Nacho Barrera by pinfall after a flying bulldog at 3:40
-squash match. No way was Barrera in physical shape to take a superplex so Irwin finished him off with a bulldog instead

Interview:
Wild Bill Irwin is joined by his brother Scott Hogg Irwin. They say they are enjoying a bit of a break in the schedule, doing some partying, some biking, and waiting to hear who the new #1 contenders will be for their tag titles.

Promo:

Tawney England will team up with Despina Montega to take on Madusa Micelli and Mad Dog Debbie!!

Bout #2
Phillip Navarre defeated Yuri Gordienko by pinfall after a coup de grace at 5:02
-not much competition for Navarre in this one

Interview:
Phillip Navarre is interviewed and is happy that his friend Vendetta is back and hope he gets his vengeance on Manny Silva.
The interview though is interrupted by "Chariots of Fire" Vangelis, and then coming out in a purple robe, trying to look prestigious, the returning Kevin Kelly, and he is accompanied by Madusa Micelli wearing a white evening dress.
Kelly gets into the face of Navarre, telling him he is taking over the interview. Navarre of course will have none of it, but when Micelli turns on the charm Navarre reluctantly cedes to the lady and leaves.
Kevin Kelly says he is back in RCW and this time he is not leaving until he has the heavyweight gold. He introduces his valet Madusa who he also claims will capture the women's gold in the near future.

Video:
"Jammin' Me" by Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers provides the music as we watch highlites of some of RCW's aerial flyers including Ben Bassarab, Mike Lozansky, Buck Zumhoffe, Kid Gallahad, Owen Hart, and Shawn Cummings.

Bout #3
Shawn Cummings defeated Boris Zhukov by pinfall after a flying dropkick at 9:34
-longer match, went back and forth as Cummings acquitted hiself quite well. In the end though it was still a surprise and a shocker when Cummings pulled out the upset win.

Promo; "Championship Material"
Chris Champion comes to the ring to a chorus of jeers and some catcalls. His special set is done up like a talk show. He tells the fans that he is not just the next great wrestling legend, but he is also the greatest wrestling journalist around today. Better then Liz Hunter, better then Stu Saks, better then Dave Meltzer (who?), and even better then Peter King. But he's not one to make false claims so he will provide the proof. He calls out the tag team champions, the Longriders!!
The fans cheer the Longriders as they come to the set wearing their biker leathers, carrying the tag team straps, and although they look angry they also seem a bit apprehensive. The fans can smell that something is about to happen.
Champion has to persuade them to have a seat on the couch, and accept some Perrier water from his personal assistant Mitzi (which they promptly empty onto the Persian rug at their feet).
Champion though puts this aside, and asks them how they are feeling. Wild Bill repeats what they said earlier about taking a breather. Champion lets them speak long enough to bury themselves before dropping the bombshell. He asks Scott Hogg how his knee is, you know the one you got scoped at the doctors clinic? Hogg goes white, and Wild Bill gets angry and gets to his feet, dragging Champion over his desk. He yells at him, "how did you know about that".
Champion says he has contacts, he is the premiere wrestling journalist in the world today. Wild Bill calms down, but the Longriders stay standing now.
Champion asks them if they will be able to defend their titles before the 30 day rule takes effect, reminding them they have only two weeks after today. Wild Bill tells Champion to mind his own business, that they will be fine, and they storm off.
Champion adds one other piece of information, that this is news to everyone including Marty Goldstein who must be fuming backstage right about now.
Chris Champion ends his show telling fans that he not only is the world's leading wrestling journalist, he is also Championship Material.

Bout #4
Six Man Tag Match
Mike Lozansky, Buck Zumhoffe, & Hawaiian Punch defeated Richard Charland, Rick Renslow, and Sonny Rodgers by pinfall when Lozansky pinned Charland after a flying dropkick at 9:08.

Interview:
Vendetta and Vic Gate are furious over what occured last week, with Manny Silva leaving the main event and avoiding the vengeance that the Hatian had planned. He wants to up the ante, and considering what happened last week, he challenges Silva to a rematch next week, inside a steel cage. Vendetta says that Silva calls himself the Mad Dog, then he should be able to be at home in a cage. Its time to show that his bite is as bad as his bark.

Bout #5
Sunny War Cloud & Bobby Bold Eagle defeated Owen Hart & Bruce Hart by pinfall when War Cloud pinned Bruce after a reverse roll-up at 6:14
-The Hart brothers were holding their own in this match as you would expect, but were undone by a timely trip from Joe Lightfoot which set up the win.

Interview:
The Hart Brothers are irrate at the Three Little Indians and make sure they know that this issue is not finished.

Interview:
Mad Dog Manny Silva surprises the crowd by accepting the match against Vendetta. He says he had a family member in the crowd, because his dear mother was sick. This cousin of his was to flag him down if his mother took a turn for the worse in the hospital. Silva claims to have seen the signal so immediately left the match. When Ron Strong, with tongue planted firmly in cheek, asked Silva how his Mom is doing, he says fine. Turns out that it was not the signal, his cousin was just waving at a peanut vendor. So he accepts the challenge next week to a steel cage match.

Main Event
RCW Heavyweight Title Match
"Champion v Champion"

Steve Disalvo (/w Lisa Caress) (champion)
v
Ben Bassarab

Disalvo started strong pounding away at the lighter challenger. But Bassarab showed a lot of fortitude in absorbing the punishment and once Disalvo was winded he made his comeback. For 5 or 6 solid minutes he absolutely controlled the champion, with headbutts, chops, German Suplex, snap suplex, dropkicks, and an elbow drop from the second rope, but couldnt get a 3 count.
He went for his flying cross body block finisher and Disalvo caught him, and for a second it looked like he would slam him, but the champ couldn't get his footing and went down. Bassarab covered, 1, 2, Lisa Caress entered the ring and pulled Bassarab off the champ.

Ben Bassarab defeated Steve Disalvo by disqualification for outside interference at 9:03
[Steve Disalvo retained the RCW Heavyweight Title]

Post-Match:
Although he had his hand raised Bassarab remained in the ring, on his knees, looking down at the mat shaking his head.

That's it for another edition of River City Wrestling.

River City Wrestling #287
Regina, Saskatchewan

Opening Bout:
Kevin Kelly (/w Madusa Micelli) defeated Hawaiian Punch after a sidewalk slam at 4:13
-squash match, marks the in ring return for Magnificent Kevin Kelly

Post-Match:
Madusa enters the ring and joins Kelly. She takes advantage of Punch being laid out to use a lipstick and start to colour on his face.
This brings out Phillip Navarre to protest, directly with Madusa though, making the mistake of turning his back on Kevin Kelly. But as Kelly tries to pearl harbour him from behind, Navarre side steps the attack and throws the Magnificent one out of the ring.

Bout #2
Chris Champion defeated Hoyt Daill by pinfall after a superkick at 7:01
-no one including Champion had heard of Daill before, and so it was a bit of a surprise when the 6'6, 340 pound pig farmer came to the ring. He provided a stiff challenge for Champion.

Post-Match:
Chris Champion says there is no formal "Championship Material" segment for today's show (he pauses to allow the fans to mourn). However, he says since he just kicked the daylights out of Regina's mayor (pause for crowd reaction), he feels he does owe them something. So he calls out Scott Hogg Irwin, another pig farmer, and challenges him to a match right now; unless of course as was reported last week on Championship Material he is too hurt to compete.
After a short delay he gets the Longriders all right, but Wild Bill is leading the charge and goes right after Champion, who decides to take a powder out of the ring rather then face Wild Bill.
Marty Goldstein comes to the ring. He demands an answer from the tag team champions, is Scott Hogg injured? Wild Bill tells Marty that they will be ready to defend their tag titles next week to meet their 30 day rule. Marty says they better or they will be stripped of the titles.

Bout #3
Strangler Steve Disalvo defeated Nolan Christopher by pinfall after a piledriver at 2:29
-squash match, Christopher looked to be 160 pounds soaking wet

Interview:
Strangler Steve Disalvo and Lisa Caress are interviewed. He tries to sell the fact that he would have kicked out last week against Bassarab anyway, his title was never in doubt. Lisa claims Bassarab was holding onto the tights so she had to stop the robbery.
This brings out Ben Bassarab with a determined look on his face. He tells Disalvo that last week he was beat. That was the closest anyone has come to taking the title from him, including all the bigger men who have tried before. He laughs at Disalvo, which irrates him more then anything else could, and says he has his number. Bassarab says he gets his rematch next week, and that steps will be put in place to make sure Lisa Caress is kept in her place.

Bout #4
Richard Charland defeated Mike Lozansky after a backbreaker (and with his feet on the ropes) at 7:31
-good showing for Lozansky as he really had the veteran rocking and reeling, but Charland isolated the lower back of Lozansky early and kept coming back to it. However, he would not have got the pin if he hadn't put his feet on the middle strand for extra leverage.

[end of first hour]

Bout #5
Madusa Micelli & Mad Dog Debbie defeated Despina Montega & Tawney England by pinfall when Micelli pinned Montega after a bridging German Suplex at 8:55
-good match with a strong pace throughout. Mad Dog Debbie seemed a bit lost at times but Madusa more then made up for that as she dominated the match when she was inside.

Interview:
Madusa Micelli is interviewed and says her main responsibility right now is to help her man the Magnificent Kevin Kelly get the Heavyweight gold. Pursuing the women's title and her own glory is just a side project.

Bout #6
Boris Zhukov defeated Buck Zumhoffe by pinfall after a headbutt at 4:47
-surprisingly Zumhoffe didn't provide much of competition here for Zhukov.

Interview:
Boris Zhukov wants a rematch against that young American punk Shawn Cummings who beat him last week by fluke.

Interivew:
The Hart Brothers are steamed at Three Little Indians, specifically Joe Lightfoot and want all 3 in the ring next week where they can keep an eye on them, in a 3 on 3 handi-cap match.

Pre-Match:
Manny Silva comes to the steel cage with a big grin on his face. He doesn't seem surprised when they announce Vendetta, and he doesn't show. After a couple of minutes the fans get hostile and efforts to have someone in the back find the Haitian go uneffective.
Manny Silva gets on the mic and says that Vendetta was obviously too chicken to show up tonight and face him. He calls for his immediate suspension.
Vic Gate comes to the ring to give Silva a piece of his mind. He tells the Hawaiian that if Vendetta is not here it must be some sort of emergency. Silva asks like what? A TV to steal, or they found his Dad drunk again? Gate slaps Silva, but surprisingly Silva holds his temper in check. Instead he offers to let Gate take Vendetta's spot in the cage match, to which he agrees.

Main Event
Cage Match

Vic Gate   v  Manny Silva

Gate does all right to start, his scientific repetoire is impressive and he shows why Vendetta has been eager to work with him. But once Silva turns it into a streetfight in the cage he falls to pieces. Silva outbrawls him, and hits him with powermoves that go unanswered. By the 5 minute mark Gate is at this mercy, wearing the crimson mask. Silva locks in a camel clutch as Gate grimaces through the crimson grille, blood running down his lips. Silva tosses Gate off the ring ropes and then grabbing him by the hair throws him into the cage wall. He uses his boot to rake the bloodied forehead of his opponent. Silva nails a wheelbarrow suplex and Gate is not moving, but still the attack continues unabated as the fans jeer.
Suddenly Vendetta comes limping down to the ring, carrying a set of bolt cutters. Silva can do nothing but watch as the obviously banged up and battered Vendetta cuts his way into the cage. Silva catches him with a running knee, but Vendetta answers back with a headbutt to gain space, and then nails Silva with the bolt cutters, knocking him out. Vendetta drags Silva back to his face and nails him with a DDT.

Manny Silva defeated Vic Gate by disqualification for outside interference at 8:51

Post-Match:
Vendetta seeks help from the back for Gate who is still laid out and bloodied.

That's it for another edition of River City Wrestling.

River City Wrestling #288
Grand Forks, North Dakota

Opening Bout:
Hawaiian Punch defeated Manny Silva by countout at 3:31
-what promised to be a squash match featuring the two RCW wrestlers from Hawaii, ended surprisingly in Punch's favor when Vendetta came down to ringside. The darkman of RCW didn't even have to enter the ring. Just by standing there he caused Silva to leave the ring, even though he had the match well in hand, and hightail it out of there.

Interview:
Vendetta is joined in the ring by Vic Gate.
The Haitian apologizes to the fans for missing his match last week, but the real story is that he was attacked backstage by tho thugs, distinctly Hawaiian in nature. After doing some checking with the hands backstage, it turns out these two were guests of none other then Manny Silva.
Vendetta, looks really angry now as he begins to vent. He rips into Silva for bringing his friend Vic Gate into this. After he calms down he says they still have a contract according to the RCW brass for an unfulfilled steel cage match, and that match will occur next week!

Bout #2
Madusa Micelli defeated Despina Montega by pinfall after a bridging German suplex at 5:13
-fairly dominant win for Madusa

Interview:
Manny Silva is irrate as usual, that he has to face Vendetta in the steel cage next week. He says the loser had his turn but chose not to show up. When faced with the facts of the situation he says he doesn't know about any attack, that he can't control his rabid fans, and that it was more likely Vendetta's drunk father...we're out of time!

Video:
"Shakedown" by Bob Seger is used as music as we see highlites of various RCW stars including Steve Disalvo, Ben Bassarab, Vendetta, Manny Silva, Kevin Kelly, Phillip Navarre, the Longriders, and the Hart Brothers.

Bout #3
Mike Lozansky defeated Richard Charland by pinfall after a flying dropkick at 6:56
-the youngster gets his revenge and a big win over Mr. Perpetual Motion

Interview:
Ben Bassarab reveals that to keep things fair tonight the RCW officials have agreed to neutralize Lisa Caress by having her handcuffed at ringside to a women of Bassarab's choice. He introduces his choice, Tawney England!

Promo:
On Tonight's Evening News;
-Findings of House Armed Services Committee's investigation of Iraqi attack on USS Stark in Persian Gulf
-"Al Shiraa", Lebanese magazine which broke story of Iran arms operation, reported claiming some United States hostages have been moved from Beirut to Iran for interrogation by Iran's minister of internal security
-Hiroshima baseball player Sachio Kinugasa reported breaking Lou Gehrig's record
- Renewed popularity of surfing examined, and increased sales of surfing attire

Bout #4
Shawn Cummings defeated Boris Zhukov by disqualification for abuse of official at 5:10
-rather then be embarrased with a second straight loss to the youngster, Zhukov got himself intentionally disqualified, then used the fact the ref was knocked down as an opportunity to assault Cummings with a choke sleeper.

Promo: "Championship Material" with Chris Champion
Chris Champion calls out the Longriders, and they are joined on the set by Marty Goldstein. Champion asks them who their opponents will be for tonight's mandatory title defense. Wild Bill looks defiant and says his brother isn't ready to go, but they will fight anyway, against anyone, even if he has to go it alone.
Marty though shakes his head, and says sorry but Scott Hogg's knee has not been cleared by the doctors, and the titles can not be defended by a substitute or by one man only. He can't even just go stand on the ring apron without clearance.
The 'riders look very pissed off but then seem to get it together. Wild Bill says "we understand" and shake hands with Marty. They thank the fans for this wonderful run that began on February 22nd of last year, just down at Fargo. Sixteen months, a new record for RCW Tag Team title longetivity. With that they hand the belts over to Marty Goldstein and in a somber mood begin to leave the ring.
But Champion tells them to hang on a minute, they might want to see this. Champion says that since the fans seemed to love them so much, he has taken the liberty to go out and find a suitable replacement team. Ladies and gentlemen, your next RCW Tag Team champions, please meet and greet, Riggs and Wolff, the Terminators!!! (click for picture).
These two guys in biker gear, looking like a somewhat smaller, "lessor" version of the Longriders (or the Road Warriors) come to the ring. They shake hands with Champion and sneer at Goldstein and the 'riders. The Longriders just turn and leave the ring. The Terminators give some information about how they may not be brothers but they have tagged for a few years now, throughout the world, but primarily in the American Mid-west. They say they will dominate the RCW better then even the Longriders because they aren't a pair of gimps that get injured every time they step on a crack in the sidewalk. With that they step forward and ask Marty to give them the tag team titles, with Champion cheering them on. Marty begins to back peddle but trips on his own feet. As the Terminators stand above him ready to pounce the crowd errupts as the Longriders run back into the ring and throw the Terminators out. Chris Champion flies over the top rope to escape. The Longriders help Marty back to his feet to a rousing ovation from the fans.

[end of first hour]

Bout #5
Tag Team Handi-cap match, 3 on 2
Bruce & Owen Hart defeated Joe Lightfoot, Bobby Bold Eagle, & Sunny War Cloud by pinfall when Owen pinned Lightfoot after a flying bodyblock from the top rope at 8:58
-this match was back and forth with Buddy Lane doing an excellent job of enforcing the rules. Owen had a stretch early playing Ricky Morton, and then the Harts worked over Cloud for quite a while. The end came after a few quick tags by both teams, and a 5 man brawl, which saw the Hart Brothers send Cloud through the ropes with a double dropkick. Owen nailed Lightfoot with the bodypress from the top rope, but as Lightfoot struggled to try and flip through it he received a hand from Eagle who turned them. But then Bruce entered the ring and flipped them back over. Lane elected to ignore it and put the count on, and Bruce took out Eagle when he tried to interfere again.

Interview:
The triumphant Hart Brothers say they are excited to hear that the tag team titles are up for grabs, but of course they feel bad for the Longriders. They say they aren't scared of the Terminators and welcome inclusion in any kind of tournament or contest that RCW might have to crown new champions.

Promo:
20th Century Fox is proud to release to theatres this weekend, "Predator" starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Carl Weathers, and featuring Jesse "the body" Ventura.
In a part of the world where there are no rules, deep in the jungle where nothing that lives is safe, an elite rescue squad is being led by the ultimate warrior. But now, they're up against the ultimate enemy. Nothing like it has ever been on earth before. It kills for pleasure, it hunts for sport. But this time, it picked the wrong man to hunt.

Promo:
A special interview segment taped from the set of "Predator" with Jesse Ventura as he talks about his change of career from wrestling to acting, his friendship and competition with Arnold Schwarzenegger, and the state of today's wrestling.

Bout #6
Magnificent Kevin Kelly (/w Madusa) defeated Phillip Navarre by pinfall after a reverse neckbreaker at 7:30
-Kelly looked really good in this match beating one of RCW's top dogs without any outside interference, and with a clean finish after his new finishing move. The announcers say this pretty much puts him "lady in waiting" for the top contender spot.

Interview:
Kevin Kelly & Madusa gloat, a lot.

Interview:
RCW Champion Steve Disalvo is actually concerned about his title defense tonight against Ben Bassarab. He says he is not worried at all about losing the title but can't handle the idea that his valet, Lisa Caress is going to be handcuffed at ringside to Tawney England!!!

Main Event
RCW Heavyweight Title Match
Lisa Caress to be handcuffed at ringside to Tawney England

Steve Disalvo (champion)   v   Ben Bassarab

Disalvo seemed so pissed off about the handcuffing that he ignored the opening bell and Bassarab rolled him up and came with in an eyelash of a 3 second victory. He whipped the champ to the rope and nailed a dropkick. Off the ropes again but this time the champ got off first with a clothesline. He followed up with another running clothesline and got a 2 count of his own.
It was all Disalvo now as he punished the smaller challenger with one power move after another but still the spunky Edmonton native refused to be pinned or to submit while in the full nelson, or the surfboard.
Finally Disalvo made a mistake sending Bassarab to the ropes, and the challenger took a powder instead. Tawney dragged Lisa over to Ben so she could give him some advice, and this brought our Disalvo, and the girls became tangled up with the guys. Bassarab vaulted off the back of Lisa and drop kicked Disalvo just as Tawney gave him a legwhip as well.
Back inside Ben pushed his advantage with a vertical suplex (not quite all the way up), dropkicks, front layout suplex, and a facebuster, but could not put the champ away.
Suddenly Madusa Micelli came from the back and attacked Tawney England!! There was seemingly no motive for this attack and everyone was caught off guard. Madusa struck with a clothesline, and then laid the boots to her while Lisa cheered her on. RCW officials came out to break it up, but inside the ring it distracted Bassarab who left to help out. But before he could help out Disalvo was on him from behind driving him to the mat, then throwing him into the ringsteps.
Back inside the big man hit with a full nelson slam, a running clothesline, and then a piledriver to pick up the win.

Steve Disalvo defeated Ben Bassarab by pinfall after a piledriver at 9:01
[Steve Disalvo retained the RCW Heavyweight Title]

Post-Match:
Steve Disalvo grabs his title belt, and as the RCW officials unlock Lisa, he takes her by the wrist and they quickly leave the ringside area to a chorus of jeers.
After Bassarab recovers he goes over to help Tawney England to her feet and escort her to the backstage area.

That's it for another edition of River City Wrestling.

Main Event
Cage Match

Vendetta  v  Manny Silva

Silva produces a small chain to start the match, wrapping it around his fist. But Vendetta takes the match to him, and then the two men fight over the chain. Vendetta wins the battle and uses it to hammer Silva and bust his head open in only the 2nd minute of the match. Referee Buddy Lane is letting it all go.
Silva makes a comeback and uses Vendetta like a battering ram, putting him headfirst into the cage, and then raking his head across the metal. 4 minutes into the match and both men are bleeding quite heavily.
Silva wastes too much time taking a turnbuckle cover off and Vendetta nails him from behind. After a bodysalm, double kneedrop, reverse neckbreaker, and a backbreaker, Vendetta hangs Silva up in the tree of whoa. He then takes a running start, and dropkicks Silva right in the head!! He takes Silva down and covers for a 2 count.
Again Silva makes a comeback and the two battle it out, tooth and nail in the middle of the ring. Then it floats to the corner where Silva tries to climb the cage to escape the revenge seeking Haitian. But Vendetta climbs aftter him and they trade punches from the 2nd rope. Vendetta wins, tries to bulldog Silva off the cage, but the Hawaiian holds on and Vendetta crashes to the mat. Silva then goes for a splash but Vendetta rolls out of the way.
Both men get up slowly and then trade wild haymakers which are all ducked. Vendetta gives Silva a kick in the gut, and then goes for a DDT but Silva pushes him off and nails him with a clothesline.
Silva goes to work on Vendetta for about 4 minutes of non-stock punishment but Vendetta absorbs it all and keeps fighting. Vendetta then takes over the match and ends up nailing his DDT, but only gets a 2 count. He goes for a piledriver but Silva blocks it, and backbody drops Vendetta. Silva goes to work disecting with knees and elbows, until he went for one too many elbowsmashes and Vendetta used both arms to brace, and catch the elbow of Silva, then twist him into an armbar. Vendetta ran Silva into the cage wall, and then took him down with a devastating looking hammerlock suplex and got the 1, 2, 3 !!!

Vendetta defeated Manny Silva by pinfall after a hammelock suplex at 14:03

That's it for another edition of River City Wrestling.
