September 3, 1983 Opening Bout: Vic Gate, 229 lbs., St. Louis, Missouri (/w the Destroyer) v Angelo Mosca, 280 lbs., Hamilton, Ontario (/w Corrie England) Mosca dominated most of this match. Gate got in a little offense but it was handled easily
by the veteran "King Kong" Mosca with cheating tactics. The Destroyer was on the outside going crazy, yelling at the
ref, but not interfering himself. Mosca nailed Gate with a bodyslam, then a chop right to the heart. He was setting him up
for the elbowdrop finisher when Bobby Duncum ran down and pearl harbored Destroyer from behind. Unfortunately for the Triumverate
this distracted Mosca just long enough for Gate to recover and nail him with a belly-to-back suplex and pick up a surprise
win. Vic Gate defeated Angelo Mosca by pinfall after a belly-to-back suplex at 5:02 Post-Match: Mosca and Duncum managed to deliver a good old fashioned villian
beat down of Gate and Destroyer. Bout #2: Dynamite Kid v
Brian Jewel Squash match against a local competitor. Dynamite Kid defeated Brian Jewel by pinfall after a flying headbutt at 3:36 Bout #3: RCW Women’s Title Match Judy Martin (champion) v Iron Maiden Iron Maiden is back in action in RCW, but the competitors for Judy Martin are running thin.
Martin had very little trouble handling Maiden. Judy Martin defeated Iron Maiden by pinfall after a piledriver at 2:47 [Judy Martin retains the RCW Women’s title] Main Event: RCW Heavyweight Championship Match Chris Lyon, (champion), 236 lbs, Winnipeg, Manitoba (/w Tawney England) V Ray Stevens, 247 lbs., San Fransisco, California Stevens started strong grounding the younger and faster Lyon with a single leg takedown into
a leglock. He continued to punish the champ with a front facelock and an abdominal stretch. Tawney England distracted Stevens
by grabbing his leg which allowed Lyon to sneak in a rake of the eyes. The champ then dragged Stevens’ head along the
top rope before then using the ropes to choke him. He threw Stevens out of the ring, and when the champion tried to re-enter
he sent him back down with a knee to the gut. Lyon continued to frustrate Stevens, toying with him, along with some well timed
interference from England. Lyon tried to put away the challenger with a slingshot suplex but Stevens kicked out of the pin
attempt. Lyon then worked over the back of Stevens and tried for the Boston crab (a move that both men use as an alternate
finisher). Stevens managed to bridge out of it. Lyon tried to apply it again but this time Stevens used his power to pull
Lyon inward and the hold was never locked in. Frustrated the champ went back to slugging Stevens, but this played right into
the hands of the surly veteran. He spun the champ into the corner and laid into him with fists and kicks. He gave him two
backbreakers, holding the second one as a submission manoveur. He then tried to turn Lyon over into the Boston crab but Tawney
England reached in and pulled on Lyon’s arms hard enough to cause a break. Lyon then threw Stevens out of the ring.
With the champ distracting the referee Tawney England ~waffled~ Stevens across the back with a lead pipe she retrieved from
under the ring. Lyon left the ring to roll Stevens back in, and then applied the Boston crab. Despite being in incredible
pain Stevens managed to reach the ropes and create the break after almost a minute in the hold. Lyon kicked him out of the
ring and again distracted the referee Lynn Powell from doing his job. This time though Powell was wise to him and turned at
just the right time to catch England nail Stevens in the back with the lead pipe once again. Ray Stevens defeated Chris Lyon by disqualification due to outside interference at
10:22 [Chris Lyon retains the RCW Heavyweight Title] Post-Match: Bobby Duncum and Angelo Mosca joined Chris Lyon in the ring and the Triumverate were going
to lay a beatdown on Stevens but their plans were ruined when Vic Gate and the Destroyer hit the ring and sent them packing. September 10, 1983 Opening Bout: RCW Television Title Match The Bounty Hunter, (champion), 275 lbs., V J.D. Miller, 188 lbs., Squash match. Bounty Hunter had no problems with the youngster. Bounty Hunter defeated J.D. Miller by pinfall after a Lariat at Bout #2: Keith Hart, 214 lbs., Calgary, Alberta v Cuban Assassin, 240 lbs., Havana, Cuba Very even match-up with Assassin enjoying a power advantage as well as having no regard for
the rules. However, Hart reacted well to fan support and those same fans kept Assassin distracted from the task at hand. In
the end Hart was able to mount a comeback with a couple of flying dropkicks, an elbowdrop off the 2nd rope, a German
suplex, and then a back heel kick to finish him off. Keith Hart defeated Cuban Assassin by pinfall after a back heel kick at Bout #3 Neil Sutherland & Rob Flett v Brian Jewel & Joe Apollo Apollo was the odd man out being the only non-native wrestler in the match. This was a much
needed match for confidence for Sutherland and Flett who tormented the crowd by picking up their first legitimate tag team
win on RCW television. Sutherland & Flett defeated Jewel & Apollo by pinfall after a double team tomahawk
chop at Main Event RCW Tag Team Title Match Angelo Mosca & Bobby Duncum, (champions) (/w Corrie V Vic Gate & The Destroyer Gate was a house of fire to begin this match but soon became targeted as the weak link. Mosca
and Destroyer worked over his neck to a point where he seemed unable to move it around, which severely limited the type of
offense he could muster. Destroyer got the hot tag and went to work, but Gate was too injured to offer much resistance when
Duncum helped Mosca double team Destroyer to regain control of the match. In the end Mosca illegally choked the Destroyer
with the tag rope and then Duncum nailed him with the flying bulldog to pick up the win. Mosca & Duncum defeated Gate & Destroyer by pinfall when Duncum pinned Destroyer
after a flying bulldog at September 17, 1983 |
