Opening Bout:
Phillip Navarre defeated Rick Renslow by pinfall at after the coup de grace at 4:03
-squash match
Interview:
Short interview with Phillip Navarre who is trying to regroup after losing his title shot against Steve
Disalvo.
Promo:
Former Women's champion Misty Blue Simmes has finally been cleared to return to the ring. She has some
warm-up matches in the Memphis area this week and will be back in an RCW ring next week to challenge Orca for the North American
Women's Title.
Bout #2
Bobby Bold Eagle & Sunny War Cloud defeated Tony Leone & Sonny Rodgers by submission when Eagle made
Leone submit to the Indian Deathlock at 5:35
-fairly competitive match. The Native tag team is 2-0 now in RCW but really hasn't faced stiff competition yet.
Interview:
Bobby Bold Eagle & Sunny War Cloud give the usual interview about putting other tag teams on notice
they are here to win and to gain the tag team gold. They answer a couple questions about their Native heritage by Ron Strong,
who then interrupts them at one point having to point out that the Indian Death Lock is named after East Indians not Native
Americans. This seems to throw the young duo into a quandry and the interview just fizzles out from there.
Promo:
Manny Silva rants about his mistreatment by RCW officials, accusing them of sending down the masked
man to interfere last week and to ruin his shot at the RCW Heavyweight title. He also says the match was thrown out because
he had to do the dirty work of ejecting the hood, and he gets screwed out of his title shot just because they couldn't do
their own dirty work. He demands a re-match of course. Finally Silva begins to say that at least with this taped promo, unlike
the interviews, they won't run out of time and cut...
Bout #3
Boris Zhukov defeated Moe Malone by pinfall after a headbutt at 7:46
-competitive match after Zhukov defeated Malone's smaller tag team partner Shawn Cummings last week. In fact Malone looked
to have Zhukov in trouble in a bearhug after working over his back for a while. However, the Russian got an opportunity while
in the clinch to use his headbutt which stunned Malone and got him to break the hold. Zhukov then nailed Malone with a second,
then a third headbutt and made the pin.
Interview:
Boris Zhukov breaks out his best broken English to throw out a challenge to either the TV champion Ben
Bassarab or the Heavyweight champion Steve Disalvo, both of whom he calls chicken capitalist pigs.

Marty Goldstein has a message for Manny Silva. Basically it's that Silva continued to interfere in title
matches between Phillip Navarre and Steve Disalvo, and now that it has happened to him he's crying a river. Goldstein says
"tough beans". Silva had his title shot, didn't win the title and its time for a new #1 contender.
Goldstein says that to be fair if Silva wants another title shot then he will be in the #1 contender match next week
against none other then the "masked man". And yes Goldstein says he knows who the masked man is, and why he's here in RCW,
and that he is worthy of being a #1 contender.
Bout #5
Owen Hart defeated Neil Guay by pinfall after an enzuigiri at 6:10
-surprisingly Hart had little trouble combatting the size advantage of Guay
Interview:
Owen Hart says that his friend Ben Bassarab has all he can handle right now with Mr. Saito, and doesn't
need the distractions of people like Boris Zhukov who don't deserve title shots anyway. So Hart tells Zhukov to stick his
challenge where the sun don't shine and to bring his oversized freaky head to the ring next week.

Bout #6
RCW Tag Team Title Match
The Longriders defeated Richard Charland & Armand Rougeau by pinfall when Scott Hogg pinned Rougeau after
a spinebuster slam at 8:34
[The Longriders retained the RCW Tag Team Titles]
-Les Quebecois were formible opponents but the tag champs are on top of their game these days and are one of the best
tag teams in the world. Their opponents will have to do a real good job of cheating or stealing to get the belts.
Post-Match:
Hangman Neil Guay joins his other Quebecois compatriots and they attack the tag champs, getting the better of them 3
on 2.
Interview:
After a commerical break the tag champs have returned to the ring. They throw down their tag belts and tell Les Quebecois
to come and get them. The challenge goes unheeded, so they tell them that despite being beaten like a red headed stepchild
today, they can have another title match next week, but one of the two has to be Neil Guay.
Main Event
RCW Television Title Match
Mr. Saito defeated Ben Bassarab by countout at 10:21
[Ben Bassarab retains the RCW TV Title]
-the fans were solidly behind the local Albertan champion in this one, despite his attitude taking a turn for the worse
lately. He tried to get things started well against Saito, but the more experienced and powerful Japanese star just waited
him out playing defense, and wrestling counters. By the 4th minute Saito was in charge and went on the offense. He used a
shoulderbreaker to set up a nerve hold. Bassarab survived that but was caught in mid-air by the challenger when trying for
a crossbody. Saito held him up in a bearhug, but when the champ wouldn't submit he slammed him to the mat and got a 2 count.
Saito though telegraphed a backbody drop and Bassarab lept over him, came off the far ropes, slid again between his knees,
then rolled him up, and was only a blink of an eye from getting a pinfall. He went to work on Saito with a pair of dropkicks,
a single leg takedown then a well placed heel to the lower abdomen. He gave Saito a slingshot into the corner then rolled
him up for another very near fall. Saito though roared back and caught the champ with a quick lariat. After some kicks, he
bounced him off the mat with a belly-to-bely and got a 2 count. Saito went to work again with the bearhug, and then threw
the champ clear over the top rope. When Bassarab tried to get back into the ring Saito kicked him off the apron. He tried
it a second time but Bassarab jumped back in time. Buddy Lane warned Saito to stay back or be disqualified and he applied
the count. It looked for all the world that Bassarab's only concern was Saito and would have no trouble getting back into
the ring. By the six count he had his arm on the middle strand and was preparing to get back into the ring. However, he just
didn't. Lane continued the count and to everyone's surprise Bassarab just didn't enter the ring. When Saito figured out what
was happening he tried to get past Lane to break the count but it was too late. Bassarab was heavily jeered by the crowd when
despite being announced as the loser, he took his title belt and left.

Opening Bout:
Mr. Saito defeated Jeff Gillies by pinfall after a Salto suplex at 3:35
-squash match
Interview:
Mr. Saito is outraged about the tactics of Ben Bassarab to save his title last week.
Bout #2
Kid Gallahad & JJ Funk defeated Bobby Bold Eagle & Sunny War Cloud by pinfall when Funk pinned War Cloud
after a slingshot suplex at 6:09
-fairly competitive match with two fan favorite teams exchanging handshakes before and after the match. Gallahad and
Funk are simply a notch above their competitors.
Interview:
Mad Dog Manny Silva is outraged. He wants to know who this masked man really is, and why Marty Goldstein
is in cahoots with him. His tirade is cut short when a vivacious looking redhead shows up wearing a skimpy nurse's outfit
and hands Manny Silva a bouquet of flowers. She tells a stunned Silva that they are from her boss. For once when Strong says
that we are out of time Silva doesn't have anything left to say.
Bout #3
Phillip Navarre defeated Dave Wagner by pinfall after the coup de grace at 4:04
-squash match
Interview:
Phillip Navarre says he doesn't know who this masked man from last week was, but at this point he trusts
the judgment of Marty Goldstein to handle the situation. In the meantime he is working hard to get himself back into title
contention.
Promo:
On CBS this Thursday night on "Knots Landing" the new episode called "Breakup" will air.
Pre-Match:
Misty Blue Simmes is already in the ring waiting for her title shot at Orca. But when the Russian comes down she is obviously
not ready to wrestle as she is in a Russian military outfit, not wrestling gear. She hands a note to Ron Strong who then informs
Simmes that Orca does not understand why she would be a #1 contender in her first match back. Orca refuses to defend her title
against Simmes until she can win a warm-up match, against her commrade Red Menace.
Simmes is annoyed but there doesn't seem to be much she can do about it.
Bout #4
Misty Blue Simmes defeated Red Menace by pinfall after a superfly at 1:45
-Red Menace was OBVIOUSLY to the fans actually Ultra Vixen and had to be escorted almost at gun point down to the ring
by an intimidating Orca. Vixen would never be a match for Simmes on a good day, never mind when she is distracted. This was
a squash.
Post-Match:
Simmes decided to go the extra step and start to remove the mask of the Red Menace with the flowing blonde hair hanging
out. But before she could take it off the fans errupted as Orca tried for a sneak attack. But Simmes heard her coming and
caught her coming through the ropes with a forearm to the head, then a dropkick sending her forcefully back down to the arena
floor. Orca decided to leave rather then try again.
[end of first hour]
Bout #5
Boris Zhukov defeated Owen Hart by pinfall after a headbutt at 7:52
-Hart had the Russian on the run for most of the match, using his speed and scientific repetoire to control the bigger
opponent. However he couldn't put Zhukov away and the Russian rallied after Hart missed a top rope dropkick, and a minute
later hit his finisher to win the bout.
Interview:
Owen Hart is interviewed by Ron Strong. He says he's mad at himself for that loss but would like a rematch
to prove he is the better wrestler. Hart says he doesn't want to make excuses but he has been distracted by the actions of
his friend Ben Bassarab. Owen says he has tried to reach Ben all week but the TV champ has not returned his calls, so he has
no choice but to do this here and now. He says that Ben's actions last week were of cowardice, and not a champion...
Ben Bassarab comes out in his hometown of Edmonton, to a mixed reaction. Ben asks the crowd why they
would cheer a Calgarian insted of an Edmontonian? He then tells Owen that the reason he was counted out last week was because
as he tried to get back into the ring he felt something pull in his groin area. He was caught off guard and in pain and didn't
even realize at first he was counted out. When Owen says why didn't he just say something, Ben replies that it's not smart
for a champion to advertise that he has an injury that can be exploited. Sarcastically he thanks Owen though for advertising
it for him. Owen looks skeptical but ready to let it go.
But they are attacked from behind by Boris Zhukov and Mr. Saito. The two foreigners stomp away at the
Albertans, eventually kicking them out of the ring.

Bout #6
RCW Tag Team Title Match
Longriders (champions) (/w Tawney England)
v
Neil Guay & Richard Charland
Looked to be another uneventful challenge for the tag champions, the only thing new being former women's champion Tawney
England now acting as the ringside valet for the tag champions. However, after 6 minutes of fighting an uphill battle, Richard
Charland while coming off the ropes suddenly came up lame, falling to the mat and clutching at his knee. After a brief stoppage
Charland was helped out of the ring, and Armand Rougeau came down to the ring, insisting he be the replacement. Referee Jurgen
Hermann encouraged the tag champions to accept the substitution, but the tag champs were not happy about it. They looked like
they were going to refuse and began to leave the ring when they were attacked by Guay and Rogeau. After a short 4 man brawl,
the "match" seemed to start again with Wild Bill in the ring against Rougeau. With a fresh man the chances of Les Quebecois
seemed to be elevated. In the end they used a distraction as referee Hermann was escorting Wild Bill out of the ring, the
challengers hit a doomsday device on Scott Hogg to pick up the win.
Neil Guay & Armand Rougeau defeated the Longriders by pinfall when Rougeau pinned Scott Hogg after a doomsday
device at 10:15
[Neil Guay & Armand Rougeau win the RCW Tag Team Titles] [???]
Post-Match:
Even as Les Quebecois were being presented with the belts and the Longriders were protesting, matchmaker Marty Goldstein
was running down to the ring. Taking a mic he snatched away the tag belts from Les Quebecois. Jurgen Hermann was upset telling
Goldstein this has burned him before, and that the bylaws are that a referee's decision is final. Goldstein nods and agrees
that Guay and Rougeau won the match, thanks to cheating, but that because of the substitution it's not clear whether this
was a title match. Goldstein says he is going to take the tag belts with him until next week when he will render his decision.
Consider the tag belts to be held-up.
Les Quebecois, joined by Richard Charland whose limp seemed to be on and off, protested and tried to grab the belts from
Goldstein. The Longriders and England though were right there and started to go after Les Quebecois, driving them from the
ring.

#1 Contenders Match
Manny Silva v "Masked Man"
Silva actually started the match off somewhat cautiously trying to feel out his opponent insead of a reckless attack
as he usually employs. This meant a slow first couple minutes, but then soon enough it degenerated into a pier 6 brawl inside
and outside the ring. The masked man used an atomic drop followed by a clothesline to grab a big advantage. He had Silva set
up for a piledriver but was attacked from behind by Steve Disalvo.
No Contest at 6:14
Post-Match:
Disalvo leveled the masked man, then hit him with a piledriver of his own. Silva tried to attack the champ but was also
leveled by Disalvo, and given a piledriver. With his two top challengers laid out at his feet the champion unmasked the mysterious
newcomer, and revealed him to be none other then,
Dr. D David Schultz!!!

Welcome to Tag Team Turmoil
Opening Bout:
Kid Gallahad & J. J. Funk defeated Tony Leone & Sonny Rodgers by pinfall when Gallahad pinned Rodgers
after a Gallahad lance at 5:32
-squash match
Promo:
Marty Goldstein comes out to render his decision on the tag team title belts he held up last week. He
says that the title match was supposed to be against Guay and Charland, and once Rougeau was substituted in, it was no longer
an RCW sanctioned bout. Therefore his decision is to give the titles back to their rightful owners the LongRiders. The fans
cheer this decision.
However, to be fair, Goldstein says that he will give Les Quebecois another shot at the titles tonight, and they
can choose whichever 2 out of the 3 of them they wish. Goldstein also drops a bomb, that this will be a steel cage match!
He also sets up one other tag match while wringing his hands with glee. Steve Disalvo and Manny Silva will have to team
together to get their hands on Dr D David Schultz and his partner for tonight, Phillip Navarre.
Bout #2
Orca & Red Menace defeated Misty Blue Simmes & Shelly Salter by pinfall when Orca pinned Salter after
a splash at 6:05
-Orca did her best to avoid locking up with Simmes, but took full advantage of Salter instead. The Red Menace (Ultra
Vixen) played very little role in this victory, it was almost completely the women's champion.
Interview:
Misty Blue Simmes dismisses the tag team loss. She says she earned her title shot last week, and has
received word it will happen next week.

Bout #3
Triangle Tag Team Match
Bobby Bold Eagle & Sunny War Cloud defeated Shawn Cummings & Moe Malone, and Rick Renslow & Dave
Wagner by pinfall when War Cloud pinned Cummings after a tomahawk chop from the top rope at 8:38
-the story of this match was the attitude change of Eagle and Cloud which really caught the fans and their opponents
off guard. They cheated at just the right time to pull out the win.
Post-Match:
Ron Strong tries to get an interview with the victorious tag team to get them to explain their actions, but Eagle &
Cloud just brushed by him without a word.
Interview:
Les Quebecois are brought out to fill the allocated time. They of course do not like Goldstein's decision
to take away their title belts, calling it an English conspiracy. When the topic of which of the 3 will not participate in
the match is brought up, they refuse to divulge any information.

Les Quebecois, Longriders, David Schultz, Manny Silva, Steve Disalvo, and Phillip Navarre provide the action.
Bout #4
Steve Disalvo & Manny Silva defeated Phillip Navarre & Dr. D David Schultz by pinfall when Disalvo pinned
Navarre after a piledriver on a steel chair at 10:02
-Disalvo and Silva managed to put their difference aside for the most part, surprising the fans by working well as a
team, even if the tags were a bit harder then required. On the other hand a rift seemed to open between Navarre and Schultz
at around the 5 minute mark, and the announcers reminded the fans that Schultz did not leave RCW on good terms after
turning on Bob Backlund. In the end with Schultz struggling with referee Buddy Lane, Silva managed to slip a steel chair behind
the feet of his partner who then nailed Navarre with a piledriver on the steel to end the match.
Post-Match:
Manny Silva immediately nailed Disalvo with an elbowdrop before he even got off of Navarre. Silva then nailed him with
a belly-to-back suplex before leaving the ring.
Inteview:
Dr. D David Schultz points to what just happened as to why he has returned to RCW and what he is up
against. He says that he made a terrible mistake last year in turning his back on his best friend Bob Backlund, but he means
what he said them, he never set out to stab him in the back; it just kinda happens that way. Schultz though says he wants
no similar confusion this time with Navarre or anyone else. Dr D says he has no friends here and thats the way he likes it.
Finally when asked why he has returned to RCW he says to avenge his friend Bob Backlund and take the belt off of that cheat
Steve Disalvo.
Bout #5
Ben Bassarab & Owen Hart defeated Boris Zhukov & Mr. Saito by pinfall when Bassarab pinned Zhukov after
a flying crossbody block at 9:02
-pretty solid and even match, with Owen playing Ricky Morton for a stretch and Saito getting some solid licks in on Bassarab
as well. The end came though on a blind tag, as Zhukov dropped Owen with a headbutt thinking he was the legal man, only to
be nailed with a flying crossbody block by Bassarab to pick up the win.
Interview:
Ben Bassarab and Owen Hart seem to have put aside their differences. Owen says he wants a rematch next
week against Zhukov, while Bassarab wants to give Saito a rematch next week and promises the fans he will act more honroable
this time around.

Steel Cage Match
RCW Tag Team Title Match
The Longriders defeated Richard Charland & Neil Guay by pinfall when Wild Bill pinned Charland after a superplex
at 10:35
[The Longriders retained the RCW Tag Team Titles]
Once again the tag champions prove they are the premiere tag team in RCW, controlling most of this match. Armand Rougeau
did his best to be a pest on the outside of the cage but RCW officials had him escorted away. The only solace to be found
for Les Quebecois in this one was that Wild Bill was a bloodied mess by the end of the match.
That's it for another edition of River City Wrestling.

April 25, 1987 River City Wrestling #280
Winnipeg, Manitoba
Opening Bout:
Kid Gallahad defeated Nacho Berrera by pinfall after a Gallahad lance at 4:53
-squash match
Interview:
The victorious Kid Gallahad is interrupted by an enraged Manny Silva, and Gallahad opts to leave rather
then argue with the maniac.
Manny Silva says there is no way that tonight's main event title match between Steve Disalvo and David
Schultz should be allowed to happen, as he was at a disadvantage not knowing it was Schultz under the mask when they wrestled.
He demands a rematch.
Marty Goldstein shows a ton of guts to come out and confront Silva. He tells the Hawaiian to leave the
arena, and to leave the main event alone. Goldstein makes it clear that if Silva interferes with the match then he will be
suspended from RCW for good.
Bout #2
Richard Charland defeated Dave Petro by pinfall at 4:08
-squash match
Bout #3
Bobby Bold Eagle & Sunny War Cloud (/w Joe Lightfoot) defeated Shawn Cummings & Moe Malone by pinfall
when Cloud pinned Cummings after a flying bulldog and some outside interference at 6:48
-gone are the feathered headresses, boots, and tomahawks, replaced by leather jackets and a street gang look. Also knew
to the changed attitude of Eagle & Cloud is a manager Joe Lightfoot. Their manager was instrumental in helping them win
as they were being beat until a well timed trip turned the tables.
Interview:
Eagle, Cloud, and Lightfoot decry the stereotype of native wrestlers and how they are abused by promoters
and fans. They say they will no longer play that game, and insist on being called the Three Little Indians, to remind fans
of the racially insenstive song Ten Little Indians.
Bout #4
Owen Hart defeated Boris Zhukov by pinfall after a sunset flip at 6:01
-hard fought contest, with Hart controlling more of this match then in their first meeting. Zhukov though took control
of the matches late stages but made the mistake of telegraphing a backbody drop and Hart took the match.
Interview:
Boris Zhukov calls what just happened a fluke, and also blames a fast count and a handfull of tights.
He says they are tied 1 to 1 though, and he refuses to let it rest here. He challenges Hart to a decisive match next week
to settle things.
Owen Hart comes out personally to accept, and says to make sure that the winner isn't by fluke let's make it a best 2
out of 3 falls.
[end of first hour]
Bout #5
North American Women's Title Match
Orca defeated Misty Blue Simmes by pinfall after a splash at 11:16
[Orca retains the North American Women's Title]
-pretty long match for a women's bout, but Simmes controlled much of the early going with weardown holds with a slow
pace. When she picked the pace up Orca rebounded after catching Simmes in mid-air after a failed superfly attempt. Orca spent
the next few minutes beating on Simmes who just would not be pinned. Finally Orca took a chance going to the second buckle
to do her splash, and Simmes had nothing left in the tank to get out of the way.
Interview:
Orca, in broken English, made it clear the title was a North American title and that she considered
herself to have beaten all opponents from this area. Basically she made it clear that until new worthy opponents come up that
she would not be back in RCW to defend her title.
Bout #6
RCW Television Title Match
Ben Bassarab and Mr. Saito battled to a 15 minute TV time limit draw
[Ben Bassarab retained the RCW TV Title]
-this was a match told in 3 acts. The first act had the beleagured as of late champion take it right to the Japanese
star. He hammered him with every piece of offense he could muster, but could not put Saito away, and managed to tire himself
out. The second act was Saito's big comeback, although at a slower more methodical pace it was none the less punishing. He
worked the champions' back over with bearhugs, suplexes, and knee drops. However the young champion managed to stay alive
and work through the pain. The third act was a back and forth flurry of about 4 minutes with neither man holding the advantage
for more then 20 seconds, and the action alternating between inside the ring, outside the ring, and on the apron where they
stood toe to toe before crashing to the ground below. In the end neither man held the advantage when time expired.
Post-Match:
In what could be seen as the epilogue, neither man paid attention to the bell or the announcer, and continued to brawl.
Finally after a couple minutes enough RCW officials were on the scene to break things up.
Main Event
RCW Heavyweight Title Match
Steve Disalvo (/w Lisa Caress) (champion) v Dr. D David Schultz
The two men locked up in the middle of the ring and just started to throw haymakers at each other. Disalvo won that exchange
but when he went for an atomic drop he ate an elbow to the bridge of his nose. Schultz went to work on the champ but when
he tried to push the champ out of the ring they got tangled up, and it was Schultz who ended up outside the ring. Lisa distracted
Schultz long enough for Disalvo to jump from the apron and deliver a double axhandle to the back of the champ. Disalvo then
bodyslammed and kicked at Schultz before taking the match back inside. The champ tossed Schultz to the buckle face first then
exploded at him with a running clothesline from behind. He made the cover and came within an eyelash of the 3 count. Disalvo
then locked on the Boston crab and it was a tough job by Schultz to slowly make his way to the ropes for a break. Dr. D managed
to sneak a punch in on the champ on a rope break, and then went to work with some knee lifts, and then a belly to belly suplex.
Schultz went to work with stomps before locking on the cobra clutch. Disalvo though managed to get to the ropes shortly for
the break.
While the match continues the announcers inform us that because of the length of the Saito - Bassarab match we have run
out of time, at the 7 minute mark of this match. However, the rest of the match will be shown in its entirety
at the start of next week's program.
That's it for another edition of River City Wrestling.
See ya next week!!
