River City Wrestling #264
Brandon, MB
Pre-Match:
The RCW champion Strangler Steve Disalvo is in the ring with his valet Lisa Caress.
He is scheduled to face Raider. Disalvo though gets on the mic and says this is not enough of a warm-up for his title defense
against Bob Backlund in 5 days at the 7th Anniversary Spectacular. He says send down another stiff and lets make this a handi-cap
match. From the back comes Jeff Gillies. But the champ says this is still not enough of a challenge. He says send another
one out, and out comes Justin McKay. Finally the champ is ready to proceed.
Opening Bout:
Handi-cap 3 on 1 Bout
Non-Title
Steve Disalvo (/w Lisa Caress) defeated Raider, Jeff Gillies, and Justin McKay by pinfall when he pinned Raider
after a piledriver at 3:33
-each man took his turn against the champ, and none of them could muster up any offense. Disalvo took Raider down with
a DDT from the 2nd buckle but when he went for the pin the other two rushed in to break it up. That was a mistake though as
Disalvo brutalized each with a running clothesline before throwing them out of the ring. He then hit Raider with a piledriver
and made the pin.
Promo:
Bob Backlund came out and made sure everyone knew that he was not going to be as easy to beat as Disalvo's
match just now. Backlund says he has trained hard and wants to win the title to bring back the prestige it had with holders
like the Destroyer and Jim Brunzell, not like it is now being drug through the muck by Disalvo.
Promo:
Jill Devries, former Playboy Playmate and recently appeared in Tom Cruise's "Risky Business" will be
making a special appearance at the 7th Anniversary Sptectacular.
Bout #2
Phillip Navarre defeated the Red Demon by pinfall after the coup de grace at 2:56
-squash match
Interview:
Phillip Navarre is interviewed and announces that he has been signed to wrestle at the 7th Anniversary
show against Chris Lyon. He says he will be preparing hard for Lyon's unscrupulous methods and may come up with a counter
or two of his own.
Promo:
Warner Brothers is proud to release to theatres this weekend, the new Clint Eastwood film, "Heartbreak
Ridge".
Eastwood plays Sgt. Tom Highway, A hard-nosed, hard-living Marine gunnery sergeant who clashes with his superiors and
his ex-wife as he takes command of a spoiled recon platoon with a bad attitude.
Can Heartbreak Ridge unseat Star Trek IV at the top of the Box Office heap?
Bout #3
Moe Malone & Shawn Cummings defeated Boris Zhukov & Neil Guay by pinfall when Cummings pinned Guay after
a sunset flip from the top rope at 7:40
-huge upset that seems to throw this young team of Malone and Cummings back into the tag team spotlight. Zhukov and Guay
worked pretty good as a tag team but showed no interest in each other before the match again; just a throw together team.
Interview:
Malone and Cummings cut a short interview where they said that in light of that victory they may have
to rethink their desire to wrestle as singles and take another stab at grabbing the tag team gold.
Boris Zhukov returns to the ring. He says that he never got to choose his own partner, and that if he
had a good communist partner instead of a capitalist then things would have worked out different. Cummings and Malone tell
him to get a partner and meet them at the Anniversary show. Zhukov says he will call back to Mother Russia, KGB, and see what
can be done.
Video:
"High School Confidential" by Rough Trade plays, a mixture of their real video for the song and clips of RCW's
Lisa Caress, Misty Blue Simmes, Candi Divine, and Sherri Martel.
The video is followed by a statement from lead singer Carole Pope who says she and her band will be
at the 7th Anniversary Spectacular to warm up the crowd with a pre-event concert, and that she will also sing the national
anthem.
Bout #4
North American Women's Title Match
Misty Blue Simmes defeated Sherri Martel by pinfall after a Superfly at 6:44
[Simmes retains the North American Women's Title]
-hard fought match, with Martel wrestling very dirty. She also tried to suck up to the ref for favoritism but that didn't
work. Simmes first big comeback ended when she tried to scoop slam Martel but her recently injured back couldn't hold up the
weight. Martel though instead of capitalizing on the situation left the ring to jaw with the announcers who she overheard
saying that "Simmes could not support Sherr's weight". This delay cost her as Simmes returned fire with fists in the ring,
and then hit a nice flying clothesline, a pair of dropkicks, and a neckbreaker to place her in the right spot to hit the Superfly
when Martel staggered to her feet.
Post-Match:
Martel rolled out of the ring, but as Simmes arm was raised in victory and she had the belt in the other hand, Martel
rolled back into the ring and attacked Simmes from behind. She worked over the back with kneedrops and used the belt to whip
her lower back as well.

Footage:
Misty Blue Simmes is shown being taken from the ring on a stretcher after that attack by Martel. Her
status is now in doubt as to whether she will be able to defend against Orca at the 7th Anniversary Spectacular.
Bout #5
Premiere of Vendetta
Vendetta defeated Black Demon by pinfall after a DDT from the top-rope at 1:26
-squash match. They locked up. Vendetta powered Demon to the ropes. Instead of breaking clean Demon nailed Vendetta with
a punch. The Haitian blocked the next punch, hit a knee to the gut, knee to the face, side russian legsweep. He followed up
with a running baseball slide to the ribcage, hit his finisher and that was all folks.
Post-Match:
As Vendetta's hand was raised, Kid Gallahad came out to ringside. He went to the announce table and
after giving Vendetta a golf clap, he said "Bravo...so that was the great next thing, Vendetta. Too bad you were wrestling
this stiff...Navarre got the red demon, you got his brother the black demon, maybe we will see you up against the mauve demon
next week? Tell you what Voodoo man, why don't you try me on for size on December the 18th at this little show we got going
called the Anniversary Spectacular?
Vendetta doesn't have a mic but nods his acceptance.
Promo:

Flovilla Thatch, we get a promo by seductive

Bout #6
Manny Silva and Steve Blackman battled to a double disqualification at 5:20
-this match got out of control quickly and spilled out of the ring. Silva used Blackman's nunchucks to choke him, and
Blackman later battled back with a chair shot. The match had already been thrown out. The two men continued to battle around
the announce table before officials could break it up.
Post-Match:
Marty Goldstein came out as the officials were having a hard time keeping the two men apart. He told
them to knock it off or they would be suspended. But if they quit now they could have each other again at the Anniversary
show, and although it is not RCW style, if they like weapons so much, then lets make them legal. It'll be a weapons match.
Both men seemed to like this idea.

Main Event
RCW Tag Team Title Match
The Longriders defeated Hoss & J.J. Funk by disqualification for using a foreign object at 9:02
[The Longriders retained the RCW Tag Team Titles]
-Hoss acquitted himself quite well in this match, and although J.J. did allright when handed the advantage by Hoss, he
couldn't seem to turn the tide himself and was the weak link of the two. Finally, J.J. tried to use the branding iron to get
the win but was caught by referee Buddy Lane and disqualified.
Post-Match:
Despite the disqualification the Funks still held the advantage 2 on 1 on Scott Hogg because Irwin was knocked out with
the branding iron. They managed to then subdue Scott and after dipping the iron in black ink they branded both brothers with
the mark of the double cross.
Promo:
